I completely understand that not all Eagles should be SPL, but it concerns my Troop personally. After a Scout achieved Eagle, he could not hold any other position in the Troop besides a JASM, as I believe I have stated before. What I was looking for was if other troops allowed Eagles to run for SPL and have the chance to be elected to be SPL by his peers. Thanks so much for all the great tips and discussions!

Ok guys! Thank you all so much for the suggestions about leadership and how to work with the May Skills campout. I have just arrived home from the campout. I am currently loaded with school, so I was only available for today, Saturday, of the 3 days: Friday Afternoon, all of Saturday (Today), and Sunday Morning. Sorry it took so long to reply to all your posts. As a remark, thank you for the different ideas, suggestions, and questions raised with this question. My question was can an Eagle Scout be an SPL? As an add-on, it was mainly geared toward Eagle Scouts who had NOT held SPL before. In our troop, it has always been customary to 'award' the POR of JASM to any boy who achieved Eagle Scout. A few notes concerning some replies: In the 4 years that I have been with the Troop, there have been a high... drop out rate if an event isn't correctly pulled off. Hi guys, didn't know if this belongs under Open Discussion or rank, but I figured I would start here. Should an Eagle Scout be able to be an SPL of a troop? Looking at it, reasonably the Eagle should have the best leadership, or at least better than some younger scouts. Is this reasonable? Or should there be some parameters? My troop is running into some un-addressed issues that have never been brought up before, as we have many younger (15 year-old) Eagle Scouts that are still active. Thanks!

Yes, I did receive a letter from President Obama, among many previous presidents and other current staff. Curiously, I received Hillary Clinton's letter last, but there may be more coming. Obama did take a while, I received mine about 4 months afterward.

Hi everybody! Every year, our Troop does a 'Skills' campout that is based towards our new crossover Scout learning essential skills. This year it was delayed because of weather, but it is currently going to happen this weekend. In the past, I always find myself in situations that require myself to lead a campout instead of the SPL of the campout: either the SPL is not attending, or does not have the best leadership abilities.
