  1. Our popcorn sale is always a PACK fundraiser. However if an individual den has a need for money for a certain activity that goes above what the pack can spare we have always done individual den fundraisers. The only requirement is that 10% of what that particular den raised goes into the pack fund. For example last year our wolves wanted to plant a garden for one of their elective activities. They held a carwash and raised about 150.00. they put $15 into the pack fund and used the rest for seeds and such.
  2. I am a vegetarian but I have to agree.....these PETA people sound crazy. Weekender can you please tell me a little more about what exactly prickly pear cactus is and how you go about cooking and eating it?
  3. thanks for all the answers so far. When I asked about the committee being necessary I was told that since we had never had volunteers to fill these positions that the cubmaster just always submitted someones name even if they didnt know it or ever filled the position. I know that even though my son has been in this pack for going on 4 years, and even though my husband and I have been some of the most active parents in the pack, we were never even told of these positions or asked if we were willing to hold one of them. Shooting from the hip doesnt even scratch the surface of the way that t
  4. As a parent of two cubscouts I can not imagine letting them move on before they were qualified simply because they were bored. This child(and his parents) needs to be made aware of what his requirements are to earn AOL so he can move on. I am sure if he is determined enough to earn his place in boyscouts and begins working toward that goal he will not have time to be bored any longer
  5. Hi as many of you know from my new and wondering post our group has been trying to organize a pack committee because of questions brought about dealing with our distributions of finances. several of the leaders approached our cubmaster with this suggestion only to be told that any members of the committee could not be parent volunteers but had to be people who had no association whatsoever with our pack and the reason we had not had a committee was because no one would want to volunteer. Is this the case? can parents not volunteer to serve as committee chair, secretary and treasurer? I
  6. the question of why the tents were purchased is exactly what made us start questioning how the decision to use the funds was made. every member of our pack has their own tent or made the effort to borrow one for the SINGLE campout we have done. there was no immediate need for tents yet we do need the funds for everyday stuff such as badges, awards, craft materials etc. we are trying to implement changes now. i want to thank everyone that responded. your help is appreciated
  7. Eisely thank you for your reply. To be honest we(myself and other leaders) have no idea how the money is handled although I think our cubmaster has an account open for us. My oldest son has been involved with this pack for 4 years and in that time none of the parents,as far as I know, have ever been told how much we have profited from any sales or fundraisers. The cubmaster and his wife simply buy things as we ask for them or tell us we have to ask the parents to get the items. There is no committee and we have never been asked to help plan a budget
  8. Hi I am a new den leader. ALL the leaders in our pack are new. We have been discussing some things and are wondering who decides how the money our pack earns should be spent. Our cubmaster has always decided what gets spents without discussing with anyone and has recently made a large purchase of tents without any of us being aware of it. It completely drained our funds and we are now left asking the parents or buying everything out of our own pockets. Shouldnt any major purchase be discussed first or is the cubmaster the only one to have access to the pack funds. PLEASE HELP. thanks
