  1. After all the stories of churches dumping scouts over the recent changes our group holds all money in an account set up by the treasure with 1 more person checking the receipts. As for gear. Everything has been recorded and numbered with a notarized lease contract. The equipment is leased from an individual for 1.00 per year. If the CO dumps scouting all equipment and money is retained by the Pack/Troop. One of our local packs was shut down by the church for the "gay leader" choice that BSA had to change. Even though the CO approves and rejects all leader applications, and we only rec
  2. Just got back from the 1st 3 day class, This was administered horribly by the staff. Last year a fight almost broke out and this year a scouter left. I like the above idea where they change around the words to give them hints on where to lead them with towards the end result of the game. All weekend we played team games that were against the other teams. Most of the time when you won we were allowed to eat first or some special recognition. So when the game starts, you do what it says "Win All You Can" the card drawer gave up after the 5th round, I jumped in to volunteer to draw cards. We
  3. Yeah, that's what i am looking for, you got a pack meeting lasting 45 mins to 1 hr. We are doing the Bobcat awards. I think awarding the leaders with their accomplishments is just as important as the scouts. When I did leader specific they had a little ceremony using a little tree with leaves, i just can't remember it.

Thanks for the welcome guys! @ Packsaddle, I was able to go to my local bank and get a checking account, I 1st called the IRS and told them I needed a NPO (non profit org) EIN (ss# for the pack) was not that hard. @ Moose, your right, the cubs are great years. I have had the best time in my life with the scouts and my sons. got many more years to look forward to! As for going to recruitment night, I went as a helper my 2nd and 3rd years. I think i need to stay away from them, LOL @ Austin, great website great price. I see some packs spending hundreds of dollars per year on web
  6. With that being said I am the Cubmaster for the semi new Pack 24 out of Concord NC. here is my story; 3 boys, 5-7-10 (as of now) My oldest boy wanted to join cubs because his friend Jimmy was doing the same and it sounded like we could have a good time. I never did the scouting thing as a kid, never camped out doors ect. Was not sure what to expect. School recruitment night, had some very good speakers talking that night. Lots of good Q&A's . As they were passing out the child sign up forms they also said they needed parent volunteer forms, the dirty rats did not explai
