  1. HD stands for Hornaday Awards http://www.usscouts.org/advance/Hornaday.asp if i can get this Guy and his son out all i will have is one more bad apple left but you know what they say about 1 bad apple with the 4 Eagle projects for his Hornaday Awards none of the boys wanted to help after the secound on and the father was getting nuts saying we were telling the kids not to help(NOT TRUE)but this is the kind of thing we go through with this guy and his son. so now hes getting Eagle Palm BOR without the SMC
  2. lets see if i can shed some light on this a little more. The scout in question is not in a crew nor a different council . He and his father come from about 40 min. away to come to meetings. But since Oct The scout hasnt showed up for any meetings but his father does and every time I ask about him I am told that he has to work on Mondays and he will not be making the meetings because of it. Now as far as the scout goes he turns 18 in Sept. He has more than enough merit badges to make his 9 palms. He has his 4 eagle projects done for his HD Award The scout doesnt care about any o
  3. chaplin the only good thing about his is hes not wanting to recharter. but hes having his son recharter to try to get his 9 palms
  4. He holds JASM he has not fulfilled the position so how can i pass or recommend him for a BOR
  5. From what you have posted, it seems to me that dad has used his position/standing in District to gain advantage for his son. This is true its all about he and his son On outings he will not even give rides to other scouts and his son shows the same attitude about other scouts like hes untouchable. He has gone to council and tryed to bring trouble to our troop and he has many of times. our troop has put together a district outing and got it passed through our DE and the dad being the district outing guy put a stop to it. so to answer your question yes he sure does
  6. CNYScouter Thank you That book will be a big help. Im just at my wits end about the Scout and the way he and his father are going about things. are there any other books in PDF format that i can DL ?
  7. CLICK23 Thats the prob.he dosnt even show up for advancement he goes direct to district with out a SMC. If district passes this thru then what does he need the troop for?
  8. The Palm BOR still hasnt gone through yet and its been about 6 weeks The father is at district level and has PULL No one will even listen to what you have to say in regards to this person. This leader has been causing nothing but problems for 2 years and its time for him to go. Everything we do is told to council so they know every move we make which is fine but we cant even have a Committee meeting without Council knowing what happens. As far as the scout he works and isnt able to attend the meetings so why should we recharter him so he can just come by for his BOR with District an
  9. i am new at the SM thing and i dont have a copy of Advancement Committee Policies and Procedures #33088? i am looking into what i can do about this matter. as far as the scout goes he lives somthing like 40 min.away from where we meet and he works on our meeting night. one of the first requirements is to find a troop near your home. he has not been seen since Oct but his fother has been there and i have asked where his son was and all i get is he has to work so he wont be here.
  10. I have an Eagle Scout that came to me for a SMC and then as he was leaving he said he was going to have his BOR now. I asked him where and i was told my father set it up with district and he left. Now he had another BOR without a SMC and tryed to hand it in to our Advancement Person but it was signed by the District so they were told to have district hand it in befor i was told about the BOR. now the question is who is at falt the district for not checking or the scout for trying to go around the Troop? and is this grounds for not rechartering?
  11. Can a scout have a Eagle palm BOR (with District)outside of the troop without permission? Can a Scout have a SMC outside of the troop with out the troop knowing? if not where can i find this information?
  12. Thank you all you have all been a big help somtimes i feel like i dont know anything. but if you dont ask you will never know... Y.I.S. Mr.Maynard
  13. Hi All A little more info on this topic I am the CC for my troop. There is one guy putting together a No Competence or confidence Board together to get me out of the troop for what reason I dont know why other than i speak my mind when it comes to team work with the troop or if there is something I feel is wrong I will speak up and tell that person. For example We were at summer camp for 2 weeks some for just one week. Every one was told that before anyone leaves camp the camp will be cleaned as if we were going home and no one else was staying One leader on our last da
  14. i need to know What a No Competence or no confidence Board is? For what reason can one be put together? Who can sit on it? Does the committee chairman have to be notified? Can just anyone put a No Competence Board together? Thank you Mr.Maynard

  16. O.G.E I have read the link that you posted Question: For the Star, Life, and Eagle Scout ranks, how is "Be active in your troop and patrol" defined? Answer: A Scout is considered to be active in his unit if: He is registered in his unit (registration fees are current). He has not been dismissed from his unit for disciplinary reasons. He is engaged by his unit leadership on a regular basis (Scoutmaster conference, informs the Scout of upcoming unit activities, through personal contact, and so on). Ok my question is Lets take life for this the requirements go like t
  17. Yes I am the CC of my troop. By the time that the recharter came out he had just paid his fees for everything the guy who had the job of the recharter had held off giving it to us till his buddy had paid up for everything by this time it was to late. That is why it is no longer his job it the troop. so what is done is done for this year. Now you ask if the scout has a discipline issue yes he does he is 15 6-8tall and 290lbs and he uses it to bully the other boys. So we always have to baby sit this scout. (What a Pain) His father is a registered leader but doesnt go on any campouts. T
  18. Hi all Ok lets get this right! Maybe I should have been a little clearer. The leader & scout in question have been gone for 2 years and have been on the charter yes. The reason they are on the charter is that his buddy was the one doing the recharter and just put him on. Neither the Scout nor the leader paid for recharter his buddy just turned it in with out him paying for it. So without knowing about it the Troop ended up paying for it. After the charter came out this year after all is done we proceeded to look it over and found their names on it again. I had asked the person wh
  19. What is an active Scout? Per our Bylaws it goes like this ACTIVE SCOUTS DEFINED A scout is active when he attends a minimum of 1 scouting event a month and 1 scouting campout per calendar year. Inactive scouts will not advance in rank until he fulfills the active scout criteria. (Example: A scout wishes to advance from Star to Life Scout. He must have attended a campout within the previous year and have made at least 1 event each month over the past 6 months. What is an active Leader? Active Troop Leaders Defined This is a trained and registered leader who assumes a leaders
  20. What you need to do is check out as many Troops as there is in your area. (Look at the Bylaws of each troop at least you will know what to expect) Then talk to parents and leaders to get a feel about the troop and stories about the troop. In our troop we have Female leaders that are trained and are welcome on campouts. It is up to them if they want to go or not.(there is no rule saying they cant) B.S.A. tells us they are welcome so that tells you that you cant stop them. Some troops will let the female leaders go on campouts just to make it hard on them so they wouldnt want to go
  21. Is there a way to recognize a Leader for training boys for a merit badge like first aid? If a boy uses the first aid to help save someone life? I think the leader who took the time should receive something for his ability to teach the boys the right way. To teach them to stay calm and to know what to do at a time when there training is needed. Mr.Maynard
  22. gwd-scouter Our troop has about 23 leaders and about 43 scouts. We are blessed to have a good group of people to help with the troop our SM is a Chef, we have a sheriff, firemen, I am a drafts man I gave a lot of time & made a knot Book (right & Left Handed) to help the boys. In other words we give a lot to our troop. A lot of time and energy just as everyone does. This Blue & Gold we have about 13 boys crossing over to the boy scouts and 3 Leaders are coming up with them. They already know about the training that they need in order to go camping with us so they are already sig
  23. AwHeck Let me clarify what I had meant when I stated that no woman go on camp outings with us. If any leader doesnt have the full leader training that is required by the troop no leader with out the training can go camping with the boys. I didnt mean just the woman! The woman that we have in our troop that have been there for at least 4 or more years decided not to go to training. (They are just not the camping type) I know a lot of woman that are CM,SM,CM& CC and praise them for the excellent job that they do in scouting.
