  1. Our Bear den currently only meets twice a month outside of pack meetings and field trips. This isn't ideal, but we are completing the program and the two meetings per month fits in well with the amount of time the parents of the boys want to devote to the program. Can we meet the requirements of the Webelos program by meeting only twice a month when we start next year? I know the program is more work, but the parents of the boys are resistant to having weekly meetings.
  2. I have... Spreading wings and soaring high. Breathing fire in the sky. But that seemed too long and more of a cheerleading cheer than a den cheer. I like Ready Set FIRE! better.
  3. I'm the WDL for a Webelos 1 den. As part of the Citizen activity badge, I had the boys debate and vote on what they wanted for their Webelos den emblem. They chose the Dragon. Does anyone know any decent cheers to go with this one? We're drawing blanks.
  4. Be sure to check the Guide to Safe Scouting. There are some limits to what kind of outting and camping activities you can do based on the rank of the boys.
  5. For a relatively accurrate by the book answer, check out the following URL... http://www.geocities.com/~pack215/cm.html Try to get a volunteer for Asst Cubmaster too. Not only for the help, but it'll make the pack meetings flow better. As you can trade off on performing the songs and stunts involved, and performing cheers while dens get set up for skits and stuff. There is no idle time during a pack meeting. Just a nanosecond will cause chaos to break out.
  6. The committee has discussed its concerns with the CM and he doesn't share them. After B&G I will no longer cover for the CM and will recommend the same for the other leaders but rather than contact the COR, I contacted our UC in the hope that he can reaffirm the roles & responsibilities of our leadership.
  7. A parent in my den who is now a MC has volunteered to be the new CC and the old CC has indicated that he will sign on as an MC if we need him to recharter. He's just tired of being left holding the bag by the CM.
  8. We don't have enough parents volunteering to have a Secretary. Our meetings are all on our calendar through the rest of the year and our CC does a good job reminding everyone. I've talked to the TDL and they have not meet since November and have yet to have a successful den meeting or go-see-it. They've had two den meetings and both times the attendees were the host and the TDL and their boys. The TDL set up a class at a museum and he was the only one who showed. He hasn't been able to get the parents to meet again. The CM has since decided to host the Tiger den meetings, but has yet
  9. The COR is the principle of the elementary school through which we are chartered. The COR is new this year and I doubt understands what the role and responsibility of the position is. To be honest, the COR has never been an active member of the committee in the past. Just signs off on the paperwork. Frankly, as long as the CC and CM do their jobs, much of what the COR adds to the pack is redundant. We usually just rely on the COR to ensure that facilities and resources are available for our pack program.
  10. Early in the year, I tried to set an example for the CM at committee meetings by coming prepared and with all this neat stuff I got at rountable or the roundtable guide, or the program helps (he even has a copy), or the ceremony guide. In time I realized it was just a wooshing sound going over his head. Our CC and Treasurer share my concerns regarding the pack, but they're cutting and running. They've decided not to recharter with the pack next month. Lately, I've decided just to worry about my den and ensure I'm putting together a good program. We've completed four activity badges s
  11. I'm a 1st Yr WDL in my pack. Last year we had a complete rollover of leadership with a new CC, CM, new DLs (including myself), and MCs. This year I moved to WDL and we added an Asst. CM, a couple DLs to replace those lost from last year, and a TDL. We have four dens, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and 1 Yr Webelos totaling 25 boys. Our Tigers have been inactive since our November pack meeting. At this time, myself, our CC, CM, and TDL are the only ones who have completed basic training and I'm the only one who has bothered to seek out advanced training such as LOE, Pow Wow, & UofS. I be
