Last year my mixed Wolf/Bear den made a den flag. I gave each boy a square of felt (all the same color) to decorate his way. They used fabric paints, glitter glue, felt Fleur-de-Lis (I cut them out ahead of time), foam stick on letters, etc. One of the mom's put them together as a flag. Of course this worked because I only have 4 boys at the time, not real practical with a large group...unless you used smaller squares of felt or other fabric.

Good Luck and have fun.

My youner son's Wolf Den Leader had the boys first come up with a name for their den besides just a den number. They decided on "Wolferines." Then the boys spent a den meeting each drawing up a small picture that they would like to paint on the den flag. Den Leader came in the next week with a flag sized piece of materials on which he had block printed their den number and their name, Wolferines. Then, each boy painted his own drawing with his name underneath.

We do banners rather than regular flags. Easier to make & you can vary the size to fit the number of scouts you have.

A large piece of felt, fleece, or even a sheet can be used. Cut into a large rectangle with one end flat & one either flat or pointed. You then put some kind of picture in the center (Wolf head?), your Pack & den info at the top. You then have each boy write his name in fabric paint around the center picture. You can have each boy do a handprint (or wolf print) by his name too. Sew or glue a pocket at the top, slip a nice tree branch thru the pocket, attach a cord, rope, lashing or whatever to each end of the branch to hang the flag. You can decorate the ends of the branch with more cord with beads, feathers, etc on it. Fill a large popcorn tin with sand, stick a long branch with lots of knobbie parts at the top into the sand. Hang your flag from a knob on the branch (or if you want, screw in a cup hook).

I bought some fabric that best matched the Cubscout blue uniform. I had someone that does some sewing locally, and she folded it over to give the flag a double thickness. She then sewed aronnd the edges to creat a seam. I then took the flag to our den meetings. The boys glued our Council patch on both sides, our Pack numbers, and our den numbers. We punched holes at one end, and inserted metal gromets. We tyed it on to our flagpole that was painted by the boys. We used about a 3/4 dowel rod I think.
