Beat the heat paddling a river trail, but check the river level/flow and bacteria alerts when planning!

Alabama Scenic River Trail -"Over 6,500 miles have officially been adopted into the trail statewide, most of which flows into the "core" trail. Hundreds of day trip combinations are possible from whitewater to family-friendly fun."

Allagash Wilderness Waterway - "92.5-mile, north-flowing river in the northern reaches Maine that ends in Allagash Village.". Resource: Maine High Adventure Base.

Bayou Teche Paddle Trails  - Bayou Teche runs 135 miles from Port Barre to Ber­wick through St. Landry, St. Martin, Iberia and St. Mary parishes and is easily accessed from several state highways and Interstate 10. The trail has a total of 14 established access points that provide access to paddle trips with town to town segments as short as 6 miles or as long as 12 miles."

Chattahoochee River National Water Trail -"

The water trail offers 48 miles of river trail within the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and is available for raft, canoe, kayak, and motorboat use year round. The trail begins below Buford Dam, offering cold-water trout fishing, class I/II shoals, and many accessible boat ramps to plan any length float. The river remains a cool temperature year-round, rarely getting warmer than 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

The National Park Service currently maintains 12 boat ramps along the water trail. Six more are maintained by the cities of Duluth, Roswell, and Sandy Springs; U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; and Georgia Department of Natural Resources."

Delaware River Trail - "Canoe through rapids and quiet pools as the Delaware River winds its way through a valley of swiftly changing scenery or fish amid rolling hills and riverfront villages in one of the finest fishing rivers in the northeastern United States. The clean water of the Delaware, the last major undammed river in the eastern United States, supports a healthy ecosystem and offers tranquility and excitement." For river conditions and recommendation, call the Upper Delaware River Hotline at (845) 252-7100. This recorded message is available 24 hours a day and is updated daily during the boating season. Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) - "Stretching from New York to Maine, the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail is the longest inland water passage in the U.S."
