Camp Theme: Boy Scout Resident Camp

Featured Replies

What are the best daily Themes or Weekly Theme that you have seen at Boy Scout Resident Camp recently?

Camps tend to take different approaches to Theme on the Boy Scout side.

Camp,

#1 Welcome to the forums.

#2 To be honest, in my expereince both going to summer camp and working summer camp, 99.99999% of the campers don't really care abotu a theme. They want to work on MBs and have fun.

#3 That said some themes I've seen have included the follwoing: swamp thing, olympics, and pirates. Best one was with a all female scout troop in the UK. They had a Christmas in July theme for themselves. The had Christmas at Youlbury ( name of the camp) buttons made, had Santa hats, and one leader carried mistletoe. ;)

Many Point Scout Camp has special weeks each summer that are titled "All Things ..." which have been "... Emergency Response", "... Aquatics", "... SCUBA". Scouts attending these special programs can earn many different certifications rather than the normal merit badges. They are great for older scouts that have done the regular program.
