Square knots and device??

I just recieved my Training and Scoutmasters key knots. One of them came with a very small Scout pin. this looks like the ones that I see on some of the other knots for doing advanced work.

Where does this little thing go.

I know I should know the answer.

No they didn't tell me at council since I missed the ceremony due to an Eagle event and the knots were mailed to me.

The device goes through the center of the knot. If there are two or three devices that are earned, then they are spaced evenly across the knot.

That's what I needed to know. now it all makes sense!

There are different devices to designate different phases of the program. There are several knots that can be earned in more than one phase. The device is worn on the knot to designate what phase the knot was earned in.
