  1. First off welcome to the fun of scouts. When I started with the pack I just jumped in too. Time to get some training and ask questions. Find out about round table, you should find some info there from other leaders. There's a lot of knowledgeable people here too. And remember to have fun.

  2. We have a pack meeting each month and we try to have 1 event a month. Some months end up with 2 events, some don't have any depending on when things get scheduled. I also encourage the dens to do activities when possible.

  3. I just looked at scouting.org and the requirements for joining Boy Scouts are:

Boy Scouting, one of the traditional membership divisions of the BSA, is available to boys who have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old or have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10, or who are 11, but not yet 18 years old.

That is right from national's website so 9 is not old enough no matter how you look at it.

Besides I don't see how a 9 year old could get the AOL. You have to be active in your Webelos den for 6 months since completing 4 grade( or turning 10). At 9 he should be in 3rd or 4th grade depending on when his birthday is.

  4. I would not do anything to punish the scout. Like mentioned already a Cubmasters Minute on Scout behavior in and out of Scouting could be a good thing to do. You could say something about being Scouts in and out of uniform and that you should do your best to act scoutlike all the time.

  5. That's a hard one to answer. It really depends on what you consider a poor leader. Someone who is new could be a poor one due too lack of experience, but with an open mind could become pretty good. So in that case yes it is better than none. Or you could have someone who does it their way only and won't listen to help. That could be better off with none. So I guess that if you have a poor leader that is willing to improve than a poor leader is better as long as the leader isn't harmful to the youth.
