  1. I did not notice anyone mentioning(Water) drink and bring something to carry water in.

Trading Post is open until 9pm except on show night and they do close down around 5pm so they can go to the show and eat. Hamburgers and hot dogs and other items are available to eat and drink. There are 3 trading post. Bring a radio to listen to in case of an emergency which there are 2 radio station one bsa and the other army.

Do not leave your car over night or it may not be there the next day.

Have a fun and a safe day.

  2. Remember when traveling on a bus. The bus driver and tour guide (scoutmaster) can get there food free. Let the counter person or manager know that you are the tour guide for the 40 plus scouts. This should work at rest stop, turnpikes and restaurants. When returning let them know when you will be returning so they can prepare ahead of time saving them time and you time.

  3. Just a notice today that there are more openings now in trading post.

    Get an application at www.scouting.org

Put on the first line trading post service.

Thought this would be helpful for any last minute staff members.

Also possible for those who are still on stand by in jamboree troops. If you are 16 and older but under 21. The price of $295 plus your own transpotation is a very good price for a youth/adult(16-20). Plus you would be there longer to enjoy the jamboree experience.

  4. The plane is do in at noon. I will not be able to make my reporting time of noon. as I was told it takes a while to get to the jamboree. Do I have to now change my flight and come a day earlier. will I get a meal when I get there after noon? I was concern because of the security issue.

  5. I will be work at Trading Post B. Last few times been assistant scoutmaster of trading post B. Trading post is in the center of the jamboree by the central region. Who to see you there. To my knowledge the only trading psot with males and females. both youth and adult.

  6. It seems in most council they promote the contingents. And never promote working on staff, because they want to fill the contingents first. OR after the contingent nothing is mention about staff. I hear off and on that I never new I could be on staff. OR once you apply for the council tries to get you to be a leader for the contingent. Also there is never mention you can go for the Half price youth fair which come up is $295 and adult $595. They would rather charge you $$$$ price.

  8. A youth can be on staff who is 16 and under 21 and pay half the jamboree fee which for 2005 should be around $300 plus there own transportion. He can work in different areas for ex: oa service corp, trading post staff, region and competion areas. Application for staff are now available.
