  1. Hello everyone,

thanks so much for all the help and advice. I have gone to my Charter rep who concerned about this whole mess. The CR has basically told me that until she can get a hold of the CM (who is hiding from all it seems for no one can get a hold of them) and until the next committee meeting in a couple of weeks that I should go ahead a continue doing all that I am doing so that the pack continues to run as smoothly as it is. I have been able to get several parents who are willing to serve on the committee and one of them is willing to be the CC so that will help a great deal.

The CR even suggested that I attend the CM training session this weekend so that I am prepared just in case. Well that is where everything stands at the moment. I hope that in the next few weeks things will even out for all and with all the parents who are willing to help out the pack (double the volunteers over last year) a lot of the work that I was doing has been past on to willing parents.

Thanks for the advice again and I will keep you all updated.

  2. Hi everyone,

You guys have all been so great in answering my quiestions before and now I have a real doozy. I can not get a hold of my DE since it is Sat. night and I am hoping that over the weekend someone might be able to direct me in the best path possible for my problem.

Ok the cubmaster is still taking his time to make up their mind. when I spoke to the cubmaster about some of the things that I have heard from some of the parents complaining about the leadership of the pack (which is why I can't get them involved for the parents don't want to deal with the cubmaster) the cubmaster's response was that they could go to another pack. Here in lies the largest problem. Our pack went from 90+ kids to just a little of 40 from tthe quick count that I got from the leaders. The pack even lost the wolf (the one and only wolf leader) because of this. I found out that the wolf leader was leaving this afternoon. I am going to step in and start the wolf den meetings this week, which of course is late, and when I called around to the kids parents half of those kids are not coming back. I am not sure how to get the cubmaster to see that because of their who cares attitude that this pack is losing support quickly and with the cubmaster being who it is, we may loose even more.

I plan on going to the Charter Rep and the DE on Monday with this for they need to know what is going on, is there some other route I can take to head off problems before the pack meeting this week?

Please tell me what you think. I firmly believe that the kids come first and foremost. Some of these kids that we lost come from single family homes where the only adult male role models that they have in their lives are the den leaders (all just happen to be males) and I just don't think that they should go without it when some of these kids truly loved coming to the meetings from what I saw, but the parents where unhappy with things and felt that it was better all the way around to pull their kids out. I would feel better if they went to another pack, but no one has, they just quit all together.

Thanks in advance for the help.

  3. Hi everyone again,

I have a question about when awards (not the ranks) and belt loops and when exactly they have to go out. I am in the process of trying to recruit new volunteers for my son's CS pack and having a hard time because several parents are not sure that they want to come back because of the pack meeting as one of the reasons. For the past several years (at least since my son has been there and he is 2nd Webelos) the pack meeting have only been announcements and giving out awards, or some kind of celebration (Halloween party, Christmas party, Blue and Gold) and these meetings go on for over an hour. One parent suggested that the awards and belt loops should be given out in the dens with only the ranks being given out at the pack, then have some kind of activity afterwards and make the meeting only an hour. I agree with this and think that it is a wonderful idea, so I went to the handbook and I cant find anything on when to hand awards out. Do they have to go out at the pack meeting? How should I bring this up to the "cubmaster" (who by the way wants to keep the title but have me do all the work {see Cubmaster help thread} which I don't know how to handle either! ) and the committee. I have talked to a couple of leaders about this idea and they think that it is wonderful, for then every month their boys are getting something not going for months without anything, like it is between January and April. The 1st yr Webelos and lower recieve only ranks at the Blue and Gold and then no one receives anything in March because of Blue and Gold.

Now if they don't have to go out at the pack meetings. What are some ideas that other packs have done for an activity.

    Thanks so much

  4. Hi thanks for the info on the committee chairman but that is another problem. Our chairman left this year, something that we knew was going to happen for the family is moving out of state. I haven't had any training as of yet for the asst. cubmaster position for the last time it was offered I was unable to go.

    Thanks

  5. Hi everyone,

I am new to this site for I found it as I was trying to find some help for a situtation that has come up inside my son's CS pack. I am the Asst. Cubmaster for the pack and feared that this situtation might come about, but was not sure until recently. You see the current Cubmaster from last year is no longer sure if they will continue as Cubmaster. This has caused a problem for the pack is now getting a very late start in everything. What I would like to know is how long do I give the current Cubmaster to make up their mind? I mean I am a busy person but have always made time for CS since it is important to my son and nephews that are in the pack. I know that if I have to step up into Cubmaster postition then I have a lot of work to do as well as going thru the training.
