This whole conversation has been so facinating. My ex-husband was a scout master for 12 years and has been bringing to my attention the differences between the two organizations. As a GS leader for the last three years, I have to say that there are definate positives and negaives to not following the BSA model. The obvious negative is that the BSA has a much better structural system in place to teach leadership skills the the kids.
