There are two different Trips on the Florida Sea Base website concering trips to the Bahamas, whats the difference between the two? There is a Bahamas Tall Ship Adventure and also Bahamas Adventure. omcculloch 10 Posted July 28, 2004 Share Posted July 28, 2004 The Bahamas Adventure and Bahamas Tall Ship Adventure programs differ in vessel/crew sizes. There are actually three vessel sizes: Bahamas Adventure has a crew size of 6-8 OR 10-12 (depends on the date you book). In the summer, there are 4 vessels that carry 6-8, and four vessels that carry 10-12 departing every week for 10 weeks. Bahamas Tall Ship Adventure has a crew size of 18-20. There is only one tall ship operating in the summer and it runs 10 weeks. Link to post Share on other sites
buffalo2 14 Posted July 29, 2004 Share Posted July 29, 2004 We had 2 crews to Sea Base this summer; one traveling on the sailboat and one in the barracks in the evenings. All concerned had a good time and most would go again. While I sat this one out, the sailboat was the only one that interested me - but different strokes for different folks. resqman 108 Posted December 30, 2004 Share Posted December 30, 2004 Our Explorer Post took the tall ship trip 7 or 8 times. Basically they provide a ship, a captain, and a weeks worth of food. You provide the crew. You do all the tasks including piloting the ship. You break into watches and pull shifts for all the tasks. As you can tell, we found it very enjoyable because we made it an annual trip. The captains can provide a list of activities and based on your preferences, design a trip to include those. We went to several small islands with blue holes to go swimming. John Pennecamp is one of the 5 best places in the world to snorkle. Of course fishing, swimming, and sailing. My sister was a counsler at the Sea Base in the early 80's for a summer. She had a great time. Basically living on the beach teaching snorkling, small boat sailing, swimming, fishing, and other beach front activities. Link to post Share on other sites
