My first High Adventure Trip

Recommended Posts

Greetings.

As a JASM I haven't had many chances to actually plan all the aspects of a trip. I have had my say, as SPL, in a few, and planned a 'for fun' campout, but never a High Adventure Winter Wilderness Survival campout.

So far I have came up with a program and ran it past some of the Adult ASMs. They all thought that it was good, but I haven't talked to any Patrol Leaders in depth about it. So I don't know how good it actually is.

So far I have planned that we will build our own shelters to sleep in, bring a limited equipment, and work on the Wilderness Survival Merit Badge. I want it to be an actualy low inpact camping trip, which our troop hardly does.

Any input would be widly accepted.

PS: If this is hard to read or understand, sorry. I have a lot on my mind and tried my best to write this out.

Hotdesk we need more information.

Is this the extent of the planning you have done? If so you need to get working.

-Will your scouts have enough time to build shelters?

-Do your scouts know how to build shelters, if not how long will you take to train them?

-Depending on where you live will it be snowing?

-What equipment will you have?

-Do you have a person who can teach the merit badge?

Good luck on this trip, and remeber to have fun.

F.S.
