That's what I'm trying to figure out. We've been talking at staff development about having TGs change their loops from blue to red to green during the course. (Of course, I'll be wearing my Varsity orange loops the whole time.) The WB Administrative guide just says both staff and participants will wear the appropriate uniform and loops from the position they are registered in, which matches what Randy said. I don't imagine the changing the loops thing is something that has stuck around from the old woodbadge, since WB used to be specific to each program. Where did that come from, then? I don't have my Staff Guide right now to look and see if it mentions it in there.

At a meeting I attended, someone talked about how the US Congress supposedly provided an alternate way for boy scouts to salute the flag when they are not in uniform. It is to make the scout sign, but hold the three fingers over the heart instead of at the brow like you do when in uniform. I've tried to find some proof of that, since I had never heard it before, and I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Has anyone heard of a special salute for non-uniformed scouts that is different that the regular hand over the heart?

Troop guides start out wearing red shoulder loops while they are part of the troop. For a troop guide that is a venturing leader in real life and has only the green venturing uniform shirt, do they wear the red loops during the first half of the course, even though you're not supposed to wear red loops with the green shirt? This is on course only. I believe the loops are the only things that they make you change about your uniform now on the new Woodbadge, instead of having to strip off all the patches.

Well, one or two patrols when I went through last summer sounded more like an off-key gregorian chant. The staff tried to speed them up, but ended up being half a verse ahead of them.

Does anyone have some music for "Back to Gilwell", specifically for singing parts. Doesn't matter if it's bass, tenor, whatever, just something to sing a little harmony with the melody that most everyone sings. During our course, there were a few people that I could hear singing some parts, and I was able to fudge a little bit of a baritone in there, but I'm not very good at just making up harmony. If I have some music to read, I can pick it up pretty easily. We have a big beading ceremony coming up in about a month for as many of our troop as can make it, then I get to be on staff next summer, so I should get plenty of opportunity to sing over the next several months, assuming I finish my last ticket pretty quick.

I agree with JKC that it is probably more important to be trained or help others get trained than where to stick the patch. I just like to be able to earn things and show off to the boys that earning awards can be fun. I like Hunt's suggestion on creating my own temporary patch. Putting those together, I suppose it would make sense to work on LG with a group and everyone could get the patch. I've just changed from being a SM to organizing a new Varsity Team, so we could do LG as part of the swimming pin. I'm surprised that I don't see more of the LG or CPR certification going on out there. One of my WB tickets was to get our troop CPR certified, but I've never seen another group do a Red Cross cert all together. With as many times as I've earned Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat, it seems weird that they talk as little as they do about having a lifeguard. I know a lot of leaders that have done the CPR cert on their own, but not as a troop.

I'm a scoutmaster that took some time this last summer camp to earn my Lifeguard patch. We actually had enough leaders at camp this year that I had the time to go to the class. I know the patch is supposed to be worn on swim trunks. I'd rather put the patch on my uniform, since I wear that more often than I go swimming (although now that I'm officially a lifeguard, maybe I'll have to go swimming more often). Can I put the patch on my right shirt pocket as a temporary/activity patch?
