  1. Okay in our pack if one of our boys drops out the money goes into the pack account. We do our normal popcorn sale and we have a pack bake auction as well and that is for our pack. Then we sell in the spring and that goes to the boys accounts except a 1.00 or so goes to the pack. However, we are starting to make it that if you do not sell papcorn then you will not get as much in your scout account as the ones that sell popcorn. That way we do not have some boys only selling in the spring for themselves.

    Hope that makes sense!

  2. We have cub scout accounts. Ones a year we have a fundraiser that benfits each individual boy. Depends what we sell but for example if we sell Pizza's and the profit is 5.00 then each one you sell you get 4.00 in your account and the 1.00 goes to the pack. All of our popcorn sales goes to the pack. The treasurer keeps track fo this and the money only leaves one of two ways. If you transfer then if the new pack has individual accounts then we send a check to that pack for your account. If you graduate to the Troop then we send the check to the troop to go in to your individual troop account. As a cub we allow you to use this money for anything cub scout related....scout store, camping/hiking gear, any pack/den field trips that are not funded by the pack, summer camp anything like that. You just buy or pay and then the pack will reimburse you. And it works almost the same way in the Troop however, they have a minimum that they will pay out at one time.

Hope that makes sense and helps!!

  3. Thanks for the info. I will call the scout office today. I just wanted to get opinions here since the office was closed when I posted this. I know that someone has to have BALOO training. We started to talk about going to the Troop Camp ( a camp that is owned by the charter of the troop) and our one leader said he would go take the training. Which would be great. The person that just took over my job as CC (because I was tired of doing everything) told me that we can not camp there anyway because there are no flush toilets. So my husband and I were really talking about it last night and I thought this was the best place to ask!!!

Melgamatic....that is funny...the big adverisement is flushies!!!

After talking to my husband last night we just thought this was the dumbest thing so I told him I would ask here and also call tomorrow.

Thanks so much for all your input!!!

  4. Our pack was planning a camping trip. One of our members was going to take the BALOO training and I am not sure if they did. I realize that someone has to have it for us to go camping. However, I someone mentioned that cubs can not camp a place where there is NO flushing toilets.....is this true?? I can hardly believe that something like this would be true. I mean I think our local Girls Scout camp only got flushable toilets with in the last few years or so...any input would help.

    Thanks!!!

  5. Here is my 2 cents for what it is worth. I would NEVER let the kids leave with this person if I feel they are drunk. Parent or not. I would call for law enforcement. Think how guilty and bad you would feel if something happens to that child when they left that evening. I know I would have a hard time living with myself knowing that I could have tried to stop it. I know it is sad and that child is one that is probably in the most need of scouts however is safety should be the #1 concern!!! JMO

  6. We do not hear anything from our COR either. They send us a check once a year and sign papers when I need them and that is it. They do not attend anything other then that. Not even B&G. I do wish they were a little more involved with us.

  7. Our CM right now has no boys in Cub Scouts. His one son has his Eagle and his other son is due to get it this month or next. But his theory is if you do not keep the Cub Scouts going then you have NO Boy Scouts. So in order to keep the process moiving you need to have good people in place for the Cub Scouts so that they are motivated enough to follow through on to Boy Scouts. SO if you truely love working with the Cubs then stay with them!! That only makes the Boy Scouts stronger!!!

  8. My son is a Tiger this year and they went to our local Cable station for a live sports broadcast show. They had a blast and did very well. They even ended up on TV. Before the program started they talked with the kids and explained how things work. They taped them a little while this was going on. Then they had to be super quite and the show began. At the end of the show they announced that they had 2 differnet local Cub Scouts there and the boys could yell and clap! They loved it. While the credit ran at the end of the program they showed some of the tape from earlier. So they got there few seconds of fame!!! They loved it!! So be sure to check around.

  9. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions! The hard thing is that all the positions that needed filled all are Tiger Cub parents. So this is fairly new to all of us. So it is kinda nerve racking...at least for me. Not much info was passed on to me as what is going on. That is the nerve racking part. Nothing was ever said about training or anything at all. Which does not bother me but these are things that I need to know! I do understand that things are ran a little loose but it sure would be nice to know what is going on with the treasury and what not. The CM, ACM, CC, and the Treasurer are all new to this! We are all Tiger cub parents. So that really makes it hard. I just found it so sad that no one would step up to the plate. So I guess the first step is to find out about this training and what not. I will have to give our CC that is in the position until the end of this month and see if she has any info on this.

I do thank you all for everything. I have lurked around here for a little while and have learned A LOT!! Thanks

  10. Hello I am new to scouting and new to this forum. That being said...please let me explain my problem!! I stepped up to Committee Chairperson because NO one would. I do not mind doing but I would have felt better have a year of being in Cub Scouts before stepping in to such a roll. But no one would so I felt like it was ashame for all these kids. My son is a Tiger Cub right now and it has helped him drastically. He is very shy and it is helping him come out of his shell. Okay here is my question?? We had our committee meeting last week and I have to say I was disappointed....I have belonged to clubs and organizations and this meeting was not run like a meeting that is for sure. Which I am okay with but...I was expecting hear a treasures report, old business and new business?? What is the norm for a committee meeting?? Any suggestions would be very very helpful!! As I said this is all new to me!! But I am up for the chanllenge!!!

    Thanks!!
