I am the troop committee chair and I attend all the Roundtables. I have tried to get other committee members to attend as well as the SM. That usually triggers a diatribe from the SM about how worthless council/district/roundtable meetings are and how the council staff are all idots. So - I go so I can find about district and council events we should be involved in, but I don't even mention going to the SM.
