  1. In years past, my troop has done movie nights. Last March, we watched "Folow Me Boys". After the movie, we spent the meeting talking about the differences bewteen then and now. There troop and our troop.

This past November we had a Movie-A-Thon. The scouts voted on 5 movies, we had Pizza, snacks, etc.

The movies they picked were all PG except for one, which was PG-13. (that was Star Wars: Episode 3).

We planned this as a Reward for all the scouts hard work at our Chili Dinner and the Food Drive.

The scouts all had fun, and want to do it again. We also had the Movie-A-Thon because for a number of reasons, we did not go camping since July, and November is just a hard time for us to find a time to camp. 2 weekends are used for the Food Drive, and then tehre's Thanksgiving, which we normally take that week off.

We held it as a reward, and so that the troop could do something together, and we did not need the 2 deep leadership.

Will we do it again, possibly. Maybe in November.

  2. In my troop, the scouts call us leaders, scoutmasters, asst. scoutmasters.. by our first name.

Scouts parents also call us by our first names.

We are in a somewhat small town with a small troop.

We Scoutmasters both live out of town, and neither of us has a son in the troop. It's our old troop when we were scouts. I got my Eagle, and stayed in as ASM. That was 9 years ago. My assistant, earned his Eagle, didn't like the SM or the Committee at the time, or how the troop was being run, so he left for a few years.

We do have all the scouts call other adults in the troop with Mr/Mrs/Ms. Unless they say other.

  3. Our troop does the following, and we have made between 200 - 400 on each event..

    April - Spaghetti Dinner

July - Nachos & SNo Cones booth at Fire Department Booya

    October - Chili Dinner

For the Spaghetti Dinner and the Chili Dinner, the scouts went out arond town, door to door and sold pre sale tickets for X amount and then we just raised it $1.00 for at the door.

On those 3 fundraisers alone, the troop made about $600.

And in the winter, October/November, the scouts sell christmas wreaths, and the money earned from that goes to the scouts individual accounts, no part goes to the troop.

    Thats what we do.
