Thank you all for your responses so far! I finished the Scoutmaster position specific training tonight, and still feel like I'm no closer to being anywhere near ready to get everything in place to get the troop up and running. There is so much we have to try and figure out and I don't know where to start other than what I have already done (contacting out DE, finding a CO)...

I am working with council to try and start a new troop in our area. The closest ones are a half hour from where we are, so not ideal for parents; and that is if they are lucky-- for some of the scouts in our pack, it would be closer to an hour! We have the CO on board, and are working to get some recruiting done so we have the scouts (and hopefully parent volunteers) ready. What else do I need to think of? I am also trying to create the calendar to at least have a few activities ready to go when the troop is approved, and now am wondering if I am getting ahead of myself!?! Our pack is currently mostly lions and tigers, with a couple of wolves and a single bear-- plus the AOL who just aged out, and a part of the reason we are working on this goal. The AOLs parents working with me to try and get this off the ground and running. We are planning on them being on committee/ committee chair and I am going to be scoutmaster due to me having been a scout when I was a youth. But setting up/ leading the entire program is a completely different ballgame than being a youth in the program, and I am trying to make sure I am prepared for everything as we get it up and running as it should be ran!
