  1. OK now that we are done talking about scout forms... we are talking about insurance forms. BTW Ducky... it's for CAP that you needed to present proof of insurance for encampment. I don't see why they are asking for proof of insurance for camp. If anything were to happen to you the BSA insurance policy should cover any accident that happens on camp property. It doesn't make any sense to me either just to let you know.

  2. OK obviously if you read my name I have worked in the trading post. I also have worked at the waterfront, nature, crafts, archery and like everything else. I love working at camp during the summers. It's the best ever. The deal with the 3rd graders is that I am a teacher and I mentioned that because people were commenting on the language and how I can't act appropriately around kids. That's all.

  3. wel i din't now we was havin a spelin test on lin. Personally I don't care about how I spell or how you feel about what I have to say. Kids making fun of kids isn't really considered "hazing" until it is in the position of a 13 year old making fun of a 9 year old. If you have kids you would know the difference. I'm sure that back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and you were a kid, the caveman next door to you picked on you about things. It's a fact of life. My little brother goes to school and get's called faggot and smelly kid. Until that happend he had no pride in himself as to cleanliness. Now he takes a shower everyday, and the kids stopped teasing him. As for your hypothetical situation. If a child has a food allergy... the whol kitchen staff needs to know that, because if they are making chocolate sundae's for lunch, the STAFF needs to be prepared as to what not to serve the child. Now maybe you are defensive because your medical info of children or self has been shared. I agree it isn't right for the staff to make fun of the camper and if that is happening, you need to take that up with the camp director, the scout executive of the district and the executive board.

  4. No i didn't donate a summercamp. But it's the one that I work at and so I call it my camp. no big deal. Eammon or however you spell it, you said yourself that you don't want a CIT looking at the health forms, that's why i said that CIT's don't look at them. There are also those little *** things when I use inappropriate language so i don't know why you are knocking on me for usage. It's stated in the conctitution that I have the write of free speech and expression. As for my attitude... i don't care what any of you think. I'm irritated because you all can't get over a freaking form. Seriously if it is that big of a deal, the national board would have changed it. Medications are necessary and i'm sorry that some of your kids have dropped out because people make fun. That's what happens when you are a kid. people make fun of you for no reason. last night I called my mom to discuss with her some of the things that have been discussed here and she said that it is partially the adult leaders faults for some of the things that occur. For example the child with Leukimia, had the other children been talked to about it, they would not have been afraid and he would have had an enjoyable experience. Children aren't dumb, if you would just talk to them they would listen and have a better understanding. One of the neighbor kids has brain cancer. Children were scraed of him until a presentation was given about the disease and how he is overcoming it. Now all the children bring in money to help pay for his chemo treatments. About the shredding of the health forms... if you are attending a regular camp, then you don't even turn in a class 3 form. We also take PHOTOCOPIES... this is a new concept to some of you OLD people. Plus if you turn in the originals, you can send the paperwork to the doctors office and have them fill it out again the following year. What a concept. AS for you all to know... I am great with children. I happen to be a 3rd grade teacher and have been recognized on several occasions as someone who reaches out into the community to expand my children's horizons. when you have to deal with issues of why so and so's mommy can't be here becuase they are in jail or dead do to drug busts, come talk to me. I happen to help a lot of children who come from abusive homes get a good education and go far in life.

  5. First of all i didn't know that we needed a **** ing doctor on our camp staff. A CIT is not going to see the medical records. I'm so done with this issue and you people it's not even funny. You all make this big issue about the medical forms. I hope that you don't ever come to my camp!

  6. Ok... maybe it is harsh to say either fill it out or don't go, but it's the truth. The staff does need to be aware of any serious medical problems that you have. If you are ashamed that you have them, then you shouldn't be volunteering. Most people only have to fill out the Form 1 for day camp and the form 2 for a Weeblos resident camp. It's not that big of a deal here folks. I don't understand why people are having such a problem with this topic. Seriously the health for is there for YOUR safety. If you don't want to fill it out, or you want to lie on it that's fine.. just don't come sue us when we give your happy ass the wrong kind of treatment. If you are going to summer camp, fill out the form and turn it in. Don't cause a hassle of moaning and complaining how unfair it is. If you want to moan and complain stay home because the staff hears enough of it from the other adults.

  8. You all make this whole entire topic way too hard. At our summercamp, at the very end, we shred everybody's medical forms because we require everyone to submit a new one the following summer. That goes for parents, kids and the staff members. It's not like we are publishing a newsletter that says "hey Jon Doe had Ghonorreah 4 years ago". I agree with Ducky that if you are THAT concerned about the medical forms, then you shouldn't be there. As far as I can recall the med forms ask about few "diseases" and medications and allergies. These "diseases" are like asthma, eyeglasses, hearing aids and what not. Not did you every have an STD. We aren't asking you to bring your entire medical records with you, the form only asks for the important information that could arise during a campout. Again if you are so concerned about your history then don't attend summercamp. Believe me the staff would prefer one less complaining adult.

  9. Ok... I work at a summercamp in WI and we had a very severe incident last year. Had the staff know how serious the matter was, paramedics could have been called sooner. We almost lost someone because of the freaking confidentiality. It's not like we are going out and publishing your info for everyone to see.Medical forms are not supposed confidential. A full medical background check isn't necessary. You fill out the important info like medicines, allergies and such so that WE as a staff know how to take care of you if you hurt yourself. I think that every staff memeber should know the people who have serious conditions. It's safer for the parent/child attending and the staff itself.
