  1. Wow, that's a great idea! First we're getting the patrols to make their patrol flags. We split from another troop, so we're starting new, and need to make flags. Than I can make a streamer which is kind of an immunity towards cleanup and such. Cool, thanks alot KS.

    Take care,

  3. Eagle Nate here,

At our last committee meeting, the adults and I developed an idea, in which we use the Cit. In the Comm. Merit Badge to fundraise.

What we do, is you map out several historical locations in your general area. You provide transportation for all scouts in your District, for a price of about $2.50. You transport them to these different locations, and have a counselor at each one teaching the requirements.

This can also be used for the Webelo Citizenship badge they can earn.

We were going to set up signs and bulletins in scouting newsletters to infrom scouts all around the district of this opportunity.

We ran this past the Scouting Council, and they not only said it was a good idea, but they'd help us promote it.

I just thought I'd run this idea past you all, and maybe you'd want to try something like this for the troop/pack you are active with.

    Take care,

  4. It is honostly quite hard to say what I see for the troop, but I can give you a breif explanation of what I'd like to see.

In a year from now, I'd like to be a sizeable troop, with very active scouts. Who love camping, hiking, and all outdoor activities. Who are always excited to try new things. I want the troop to be going on more long-term trips, and such.

As for the PLC, right now we are really working on the calendar, for he Committee is pushing us to do it for busgit reasons. Merit Bages we'd like to work on etc. What I'd like to see, is maybe more, getting together, thinking of leadership building games, team building activities. Talking about where we'd like to go on campouts for say a week or so.

I'd like to go white water rafting. Maybe snow shoeing. A long week-long hiking campout, where we hike for 14 hrs, set up camp, and sleep, pack up, and hike again. Something to that sort. I would also like to go to a weekend long JLT, where we camp somewhere, and develop leadership qualities. Have some games, etc. Also, I'd like to go on a "goof-off" campout. Where all of us boys can just go to some cabins somewhere, and have a good time. Be with our scouting borthers, but not really be obligated to do scouting activities. Could be used as maybe a bonding sort of thing.

This is just a portion of what I have whirling around in my head. But I have to go, getting quite late, and I'm going to build a mailbox with my dad out of wood for our committe chair person, Mrs. Nord.

    Take care,

  5. Hi, Nate again. I'm trying to get my patrol leaders to hold their patrol meetings that are outside of the regular scout meetings. I want them to do patrol activities so they can can the national patrol award, and such.

I guess what I really want in trying this is for each patrol to become more of a team. But the patrol leaders are a bit on the "lazy-side" and really don't want to get involved in this.

Do any of you suggest some type of competition? After all, both patrol leaders are brothers, so competition can get feirce, hehe. I need some type of motivation for these boys, because I'd really like to see more patrol activity.

Anyway, if I can have your thoughts, that'd be great!

    Take care,

  6. Hi everybody, checking out the forums. My mom (pamalam) started posting here, so I thought I'd try to keep up here, because I see there are some good ideas flying around. And I could use all the help I can get.

I'm the SPL of a new troop that started 3 months ago. We had a breakoff with another troop, long story. I'm trying to get my fellow scouts to get a little more excited in the activities we take part in. They are active, but not very enthusiastic.

Also, some boys are making fun of the others, etc.

And I'm the one that had the idea of the online chat, just for a 30min quick, saturday type thing.

So, any imput on any ideas would be nice, and I'll be lookin around for new fresh ideas, that are original :)

    See you guys later,

    -Eagle Nate
