We have a history of Troop Guides being somewhat at loose ends in troop meetings and campouts; not really sure where they fit in. I would like to develop a mentorship program that helps them identify a stronger role in the troop and recognizes their critical contribution to advancement. As part of that I hope to find a movie that portrays the role of a "guide" in a positive light and gives us a protrayal of an individual "guiding" a larger group. From that we can discuss what it means to be a Troop Guide. My first thought was to seek out some old Western move with a prominant and successful trailguide, but beyond that I am stumped. Of course, I'd want a movie that 13-15 year-olds would enjoy. Anyone have any ideas?

I used to have the scouts in my troop watch Apollo 13 as part of the JLT program. The way the mission control head kept everybody on track, and the way various groups had to come together just like a scout patrol to overcome problems.
