If memory serves, they are not considered members of the BSA unless they register as the COR and/or CC of the units they charter.

I'm the COR for 5 units sponsored by my Kiwanis Club. Our IH changes every year (new president) and I just call our council registrar to change the name in the council database. No app, no registration, no paperwork.

For school chartered units, this would be a pain if true. It is usually the school's PTA that is the CO, which would make the PTA president the IH. And that position changes at least every 2 years, more often every year. I'm glad to hear that it isn't so.

Yah, Eamonn, don't tell me you're buyin' into the "corporations are people my friend" bit.

 

I'm pretty sure the organization doesn't sign the charter agreement since it doesn't have hands.
