My troop is new and just starting to amass all the things a troop needs. We are planning a Court of Honor and need a scout candelabra. We've seen wooden ones with the Boy Scout symbol in the center with three candles up front and 12 behind. Are those something you buy or do you have to make them? If you buy them, where? If you make them, are there plans somewhere? Thanks for the help.

Ours is simply half logs with holes drilled in them to hold the candles. The bottom log is long enough for a second one to be mounted on top (cut so it sits firmly). Six on each side, three in the top. As the troop ages the wax builds and adds to the effect. Simple, thrifty, and may in the long run, mean more to the boys especially if they come back as adults.(This message has been edited by firekat)

Ours is a triangular affair built by one of the boys with a candle hole drilled out for 12 inch taper candles. Ours has a hole for each item in the Scout Oath along the top and a cross bar that has three holes drilled for the Duty to... candles.

Simple 2x4 construction. One item to note, ensure you keep an eye on how long your ceremonies run and the quality of the candles you burn. We had one unfortunate incident that lent a lot of excitement to the ceremony and some character to the candelabra. Took a little sanding and re drilling to restore functionality to the piece.

It should be easy enough to find either a member who is a woodworker or a local crafts person who could make any thing else you would like to adorn the basic structure with. Our guys like the simplicity of ours.

There are ornate plans for center pieces in the 1987 version of "Scout Ceremonies". not sure if it is in the current one.

we just use white birch logs cut flat on one side we have two with 6 holes each and one with 3 hole. the 3 holes go in the middle and the 6's astride!

Where in mass are you?

I might be able to scan them and fax them to you or e-mail them to you!
