I have a problem with this COH ceremony.....as the scouts enter the cereomy they stand by the sign of their current rank. Some of the Life rank scouts are 16-17 years old and have expressed the humiliation of a 14 and 15 year old walking past them to stand at the Eagle rank. Have you ever seen a Eagle COH like this? It is the 15 year olds Eagle COH. Do you think his parents are trying to "showboat"

their new Eagle scout?

It sounds more like trying to include all the troop into the ceremony in some way. Personally, it sounds a little hokey, but I'd surely go along with whatever the boy wants. Showboat the new Eagle? Yeah, that's kinda the idea behind the event.

I remember when I was 30-something, and a young punk 20-something passed me on the corporate ladder. It happens.

Not a lot of info to go on here...

Can you post this ceremony somewhere so we can look at it?

For my son's ECOH, we started by having the six Eagles take their Moms on their arms and seat them, then go to their own seats (Dads followed). The Eagles asked a Scout they all respected to stand tall at the front, make the Scout sign, and take care of the Pledge, the Oath, and the Law. He then introduced the elder gentleman, an Eagle, who gave the invocation.

I've yet to see two ECOH's conducted alike. I have seen other ECOHs where the Scouts of a Troop line the aisleway AFTER the ceremony, I've seen "escorts of honor" (other Eagles) bring the new Eagles up at the start of a ceremony.

HTH.

YIS.

I don't have a copy of the ceremony yet. The older Scouts don't want to be involved because they feel it is an intentional mockery because of the arogant parents of this Eagle ceremony.

Your ceremony sounds different from ours.

Alot of the scouts sit in the audience. The rest are either part of the ceremony, meaning guys who light the candles, flag ceremony, etc etc.

I've seen multiple ceremonies and other occasions where Scouts line up via rank. If a 17 year old Life Scout has a problem with a 15 year old Eagle being in front of him in line, then that's his problem. If he wants to be in the front so badly, then he needs to get off his rear end and finish up his Eagle. Age or seniority doesn't necessarily mean that you've accomplished anything.
