Secret Boy Scout Spices

Recommended Posts

I'm willing to disclose the recipe for our Troop secret spices, good for cooking any kind of meat or vegetables. It has the advantage of being easy and cheap to mix up, and pretty much Scout proof ---since it's not hot, putting too much on is usually not much of a problem.

Warning! This is for Boy Scouts, Scouters and their families ONLY!

If the Girl Scouts wind up using this for next years Dutch Oven cookoff at the Camporee ----SOMEONE WILL BE IN A LOT OF TROUBLE!

Equal amounts--

garlic powder

onion powder

paprika

chili powder

Hmmm...These ingredients look suspiciously similar to Emeril's "essence" (not an exact match, but pretty close). Are we supposed to yell "BAM" when we add the spice mix? Or maybe Boom?

SP - my son wants to know... what if it's used on a venturing outing and one of the girls in the crew is an enterprising girl scout and takes it back to her troop??

Oh, Seattle - That made my day. I laughed so hard that I think I hurt myself. Everybody in the office is looking at me. Seriously. . . yeah, just how cute is this girl?

Don't know if it counts as a spice, but I've observed that no matter how badly burned or charred a cobbler or apple crisp might be, if enough miles are hiked prior to the cooking of said cobbler or crisp, it always seems to be consumed.
