Siblings & Family Pack

Recommended Posts

We have always allowed siblings to attend and participate in out Pack events.

However, now that girls are allowed to officially register, what is everyone's feelings toward allowing non-registered (but eligible to be registered) sibling participation.  Informal discussion with a few of parents seems to be "daughter is not sure she wants to join, but wants to come to the fun activities".  Seems like a case of having her cake and eating it too.

So, what have you done with male siblings who aren't registered and don't want to be?

We've never had the problem where one brother is registered and the other isn't.

How strange. We always seem to get a set of boys who have opposite interests (typically heavy sports/karate vs. heavy scouts).

In our Pack, if you are of Cub Scout age, you must be registered to participate.  The only "tag-a-longs" that participate for free would be ones too young to register

I don't think our pack ever turned away a brother from the occasional event. But, if he made regular appearances, we'd hand him an application and say, "Why not?"

Our venturing crew considered a $5 surcharge for "guests", which would be used to pay rechartering fees and the youth's registration if they came frequently enough. That thinned the herd quickly.
