AlmostThere 10
Hi all. I've been lurking for a few months, but figured it's time to rear my ugly head. I've been the SM of a struggling troop for almost a year, after a year as COR. I wasn't a Scout myself, but inexplicably recieved Boy's Life magazine for several years during my youth in the 70's, without ever attending a meeting, not even once. I read those magazines from cover to cover and credit them with a lifelong enthusiasm for camping and scout-like stuff. -- Russell
dsteele 20
Welcome Almostthere! I'm not sure what the name applies to. If you were a faithful reader of Boy's Life you were a Scout at Heart. Of course, whoever purchased the subscription for you would have saved 50% if you were a Scout. Most people don't realize that the subscription price for Scouts is 50% of what the general public (it is available to all) pays. Unc.
SemperParatus 1
Sending Boys Life to non-scouts...hmmmm, now that's an interesting idea for a marketing campaign. Welcome and good luck with your troop.

AlmostThere 10
Thanks for the warm welcome. Uncleguinea: AlmostThere is kind of a philosophical statement on my part about the journey being the important part. Once I'm There, the journey is over, so I try to stay Almost There. Besides, my usual online name, 'guzziot' is just too obscure for this forum -- Russell
SemperParatus 1
Is that as in Moto Guzzi? Then Came Bronson was my favorite show when I was growing up.
