Scouting ties in the Trump Administration

It was the FBI's own internal affairs division, the "Office of Professional Responsibility" which investigated McCabe and recommended he be terminated, same as any other agent accused of the same crimes.  A 27-year veteran agent was interviewed on TV and he stated that "Lack of candor" is the one thing that can result in a sure termination of employment and that is drilled into every agent from their first day at the FBI Academy.  Whatever you do, don't lie...always tell the truth and take your lumps and you will probably keep your job.  If you are found guilty of "lack of candor", then every case you've ever been involved in or testimony in court you made under oath, then comes into question and convictions can be overturned.  The fact that he was days away from a pension is irrelevant.  It was not Trump's fault...it was not Session's fault...it was FBI policy.  BTW, these were the same charges that lost Flynn his job and landed Martha Stewart in prison.

Sessions' own lack of candor is why he had to recuse himself from the Russia probe:

Trump followed up on the military school with five draft deferments and, later, berating John McCain for being captured in Vietnam.

I don't understand why you think it is ironic.

Maybe the Eagle Scouts in Trump's administration should take him camping. Get the President out in the woods, away from the TV and Twitter.  Have a nice campfire with lots of coffee and dutch oven m

Yes, Government wastes money, regardless of who supposedly leads the bureaucracy.

"You deserve more, and they should pay for it."

Remember "budgets"?

"The president’s fiscal year 2010 budget proposal amounting to $3.55 trillion in spending was released on Feb. 26.  According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the president’s proposals will add deficits of $9,300,000,000,000 over the next 10 years—many times more than the inflation adjusted cost of all of World War II.

The budget proposal sets record levels of annual spending between a minimum of $3,556,000,000,000 in 2011 and $5,139,000,000,000 in 2019.  The budget raises taxes by as much as $1,600,000,000,000 over the next ten years."

The problem with "lack of candor" is that in most cases it boils down to a personal opinion rather than a documented instance of lying.  One can be terminated for "lack of candor" simply because someone else believes you aren't telling the truth even if you are, because you aren't giving someone the answers that person has already pre-determined are the answers to their questions.

Nothing in this instance suggests that McCabe gave answers that he knew to be untruthful.  It appears that his lack of candor was because he gave truthful answers that others didn't think were truthful but really had no evidence to back it up.

In the meantime, another Scout in the Trump Cabinet (Zinke) seems to be hanging by a thread and so it might be best if we just didn't make a big deal of how many Scouts the President has in his administration - none of them (except Perry, for now) seem to have thrived.

Andrew Wheeler, the new acting EPA Administrator,  is an Eagle Scout and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 960 at Holy Cross in Fairfield, OH. He worked summers as the nature conservation director at the Woodland Trails Boy Scout camp in Camden, Ohio, between Dayton and Cincinnati.

Three years ago, he hiked Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, but he has no aspirations to climb Mount Everest.

“I’m a hiker, not a climber,” he said.

Was he the last Eagle remaining in Trump administration?  So historically, this administration had the most Eagles at the start but none served a whole term?

As OP, my interest here was not the politics but an opportunity to generate scout interest in future elected government service. Hasn't happened...yet. :(

Sigh..., I am waiting for a question to the Presidential candidates regarding the future of the BSA.

Bernie Sanders was in scouts.

Michael Bloomberg is an Eagle Scout. Here's a 2009 story about Mayor Bloomberg using his scout first aid skills.

Interesting.  I never realized Bloomberg was an Eagle scout.  Found this recent article about how other candidates might underestimate Bloomberg's "Preparedness" at their own peril...
