Best Place To Buy Tomahawks

Recommended Posts

So I have been asked to put together the Fall Camporee, we want to include Tomahawks. Budget is tight anyone have ideas on best place to get these.

We got these a while back. They are weighted just right and easy to fix. Get a few extra handles in case someone (usually large, burly adults who think might is the best way to throw [it's not]) breaks a handle.

They used to be ~$22/each. You might be able to get a volume discount like we did. We run 6-7 lanes at a time, so 18-21 'hawks will do fine.

In-laws got me 2 of these for my birthday.  http://www.amazon.com/Cold-Steel-American-Hickory-Handle/dp/B0014BMBA6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1438285909&sr=8-1&keywords=cold+steel+trail+hawk  Jus needed sharpening and I took the protective coating off. And I sue them camping too.

Do My in-laws love me or what?

I may get a 3rd 'hawk and go with this. http://www.amazon.com/Cold-Steel-Riflemans-American-Hickory/dp/B000Q9BG4Y/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1438285909&sr=8-5&keywords=cold+steel+trail+hawk

Yes, somewhere in Texas RichardB breaks into a cold sweat and doesn't know why. :)

Very doubtful......it was officially 104 here yesterday.    Nothing cold about that, nor wondering why.

Have a plan, Run the program, have fun and life is good.  Anything outside of that isn't scouting.......

Enjoy.

District has purchased from these folks, suggest at least two extra handles per hawk in reserve.    http://www.crazycrow.com/hand-forged-throwing-hawks

I also throw the SOG's but they are "modern".

Have not tried these yet but this is SOG's latest entry in a three hawk package:  http://www.sogknives.com/throwing-hawks.html- seen them as low as for $50 for three.

These folks make some nicer stuff:   http://www.hbforge.com/hand-forged-throwing-tomahawks Not sure I'd invest this much per hawk for bulk learning.

For knives, I really prefer the cold steel true flights, they hold up better than any other off the shelf solution tried and they have enough weight to them they stick well.

Crazy Crow is a good source, and depending upon how many you buy, will give you a non profit discount and free shipping.  Chilantakoba Lodge 397 bought a bunch for running a tomahawk range back in the day.

Current council ran a tomahawk range at council camporee. They used the and assortment of Cold Steel tomahawks: Frontier, Trail, and Pipe.

And I second getting extra handles. next time I use SMILE.AMAZON.COM I will be buying extra handles.

We bought these also. They work nicely, reasonable price and you get some extra handles. Here's a link to a package that is made for scouts: http://www.hatchetsandaxes.com/scout-special-19-hawk-throwing-station-kit-older-scouts
