I always found it poetic that the code for crew advisor was also the abbreviation for Not Applicable. It sure feels like it sometimes.

Code 112 isn't on the list. Does anyone have any idea what it is? Our District Director didn't when we asked him last night.

I know at one time every position on the district committee had an individual position code. I believe 120 was activities chair, but I am not sure on the rest. I would bet that 112 is an old district or council committee position.

My Cub Pack got a volunteer to serve as Pack Committee Chair last night. today I sent the following e-mail to him in hopes that he would be able to complete the adult leader application process:

Thanks for your interest in supporting our Cub Scout Pack by serving as Pack Committee Chair!

I wanted to help walk you through the initial process of completing that appointment.

1. Completing the adult leader application you already have. Turning that in to me at the Monday Den meeting would be fine. Be sure to sign the authorization for a background check.

2. Completing the BSA (Boy Scouts of America) Youth Protection training, which can be done on line, usually in about a half hour. To take that training:

You may or may not need to use Iternet Exp

You don't have a Member ID yet, so choose the second option that does not require an ID number.

Select this option:

I am new and don't know my member ID, or I am not a member

Move over to the right side of the page and select "next"

Let me know if you have difficulty working through this BSA website and I'll try to be of assistance.

When you complete the training, you will need to print out a certificate of completion. Turn in one of the certificates with your adult leader application please.

Make a note of your user name and password so you can reference that account in the future.

((This degree of complexity is a waste of time!))

They ask for e-mails on the app and council/national never use it to confirm registration, send out a member number, or anything else that I can tell. Why ask for information you aren't going to ever use? Cause it's fun? Everyone else does it?

Every time I get an e-mail from BSA or TAC or our district it's because I asked to be on a list.

Nike,

I know the pack uses the emails off the apps.

Also there are some new features coming to MYSCOUTING.ORG. One of which is having a member of the key 3 send out calendar updates and emails to everyone in the unit.

If only the correct people would be listed on the roster or listed in their correct position.

I forgot 2,

AP - Tiger Adult Partner - Cub Scouts

SP - ScoutParent - All Traditional Units

As far as the email address, they are being used as part of the Voice of the Scout program, http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/Commissioners/newsletter/recruitment_retention/02_2012_vos.aspx

This is on the district and council Journey to Excellence scorecard. This is basically a customer service survey sent out to parents, leaders and youth.

They are finding for the voice of the scout survey emails that

a. councils haven't been adding email addresses to the adult's scout net records at all

or

b. the email address was entered when they registereed their cub scout and well that son has aged out, so the email address is old and doesn't work.

We were asked to verify all of our email addresses for youth and adults with our recharter.

Our Troop doesn't collect email addresses for the youth if they are under 14, and that is the majority of our scouts. so we usually don't collect email addresses at all for youth.

-Position code 92U wasn't included in the recharter computer program this year like it was supposed to be.

So our registrar was pulling her hair out at the number of units who have called her to ask what to do.

She told them to register them all as asm's (since most are too young to be mc) and then she will transfer them all back to 92U when she sees their packet. Of course that means most will still be registered as ASM's because she doesn't process all the recharter packets herself. They should flag them somehow so they know these weird ones need to go to the registrar since she made the promise to fix their problems herself.

I was able to do myscouting.org training verification by e-mail addresses for leaders whose ID's I didn't have. But I'm sure that e-mail was from the online profile registered, not from the BSA Adult Application.

I think that additional codes have been added to reflect specific positions on the committee. Based on recent recharter activity, the following positions are assumed (I am trying to verify through our registrar)
