Camp and Local Resident Relations

My council is going through an ordeal about rezoning our camp. we bought this piece of land in order to build a cub scout camp but the local residents dont want it rezoned because there would be an increase of traffic. I was wondering if any other counciuls have had such disputes and if there is a way to mend the tension between locals and the camp.

It's a shame when NIMBY starts trickling down to Scouts and youth groups.....

 

"Would you rather have a Scout camp used on weekends and a couple weeks a year, or a 24-hour Super Wal-Mart?" :-)
