He was UDT, both swim and went through BUD/S but UDT and SEALs are different beasts. The controversy is all in the minds' of Ventura's people. UDT and SEAL were merged in the 80s, long after Ventrua left the Navy. In the minds of SEALs, he was never a SEAL because he was never on a SEAL Team. He claims to have painted "SEAL TEAM 1" on the water tower at Fort Benning. Since he was never in SEAL TEAM 1, why would he have done that? So what can you believe about his history? Maybe it started innocently enough. Maybe when he started wrestling, the publicity people figured that SEAL sounded better than UDT and then he couldn't figure out a way out of it. Or maybe he figured that SEAL sounded better since few would know what UDT did. Who knows? Link to post Share on other sites
