Our troop will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary next February. Our committee has been kicking around ways to celebrate this momentous occasion. Some of the ideas have been a "Class reunion" kind of banquet, an alumni campout, etc. Have any of you had an anniverary celebration of some type? What did you do, who was invited, how did you contact them etc. We want to get an early start, so any advice would be appreciated. THANKS!

I haven't done it as a troop, but have been involved in finding old camp staff for camp staff reunions.

One great resource for finding people is www.classmates.com It worked great for a council, and should work even better for a troop because you have fewer schools to check.

Good luck. Congratulations on 50 years.

We celebrated one and invited past Eagle Scouts, mayor priest and other dignitarys back to our CO. Not many could make it but we did get a letter from one of our Eagles. He was currently fly F-16's in Yugloslavia. His letter was inspirational to the boys speaking how he has never forgotten his oath and law and the skills that he learned.

Well a troop in our district celebrated their 90th back in March. They set an historical marker in front of the scout hut. Had boys camping on the scout hut grounds. Boys wore complete older uniforms. Sold food morning noon and night as a fundraiser. Did a Webelos crossover. Had an OA dance tean in the evening. Guest speakers included many many previous Scoutmasters, several that had been members of the troop in the 40's (and later), a state representative and the council exec. They also did a ground breaking for a new scout hut, said they were going to turn the old one into a museum.

Can't wait to see what they do for their 100th.

I've spent the last year and a half trying to find folks for my 20 year high school reunion; here's several school search sites that may help you find old Scouts:

Classmates.com (already mentioned)

Reunion.com

Alumni.net

Classreunionsearch.com

Gradfinder.com

Kitnetwork.com

Schoolnews.com

There is a similar site out there; SCOUTMATES.com, that is similar to Classmates.

Also, if you have the time to spend, try punching in names on Google.com - you'd be surprised how many folks you can track down that way.
