Tenure?

Can a registered adult receive two knots in a one year period? I have heard tenure only counts towards one year and one knot. What about the person who has a tiger den and a wolf den? Can they get the tiger and den leader knot within the same "tenure" year?

Only if the dens are in 2 different packs and they are registered in those 2 packs. 2 different positions 2 separate tenures. Different position in a different unit = different tenure. Tenure refers to one specific position

Tenure refers to one specific REGISTERED position.

 

You can not, in the same Pack, be a REGISTERED Tiger den leader AND a REGISTERED Wolf den leader. Your training knot would be for which ever ONE of these 2 positions you are REGISTERED in.

 

BIG difference between being registered in and serving in a position. Contact your Council Service Center or check the list of registered members on your Charter.

The only position within a unit that will allow one to hold more than one registered postion is Chartered Organization Representative. Therefore, tenure can only count towards the position one is registered for.

That warning on the application assumes that you're only registered with one unit at a time.

 

If you're an ASM with Troop 999 and a Committee Member with Pack 222, you can simultaneously be working on The Boy Scout Leader Training Award and a the Cub Scout Leader Training Award.

I think the big issue is many do not actually understand the term "Tenure" and what is actually means.

 

Tenure is the term used for "holding something" and in our situation the leader is holding 1 specific leadership position within a single unit. If the leader is registered and holds 2 different leadership positions in two different units one would say they are holding 2 separate leadership tenures.

 

There really is nothing for the district to decide. They only need to understand what the term tenure really means.
