Celebrate Freedom - What Are You Doing?

July is coming up quick and with the July theme of Celebrate Freedom, what are you doing with your Pack?

 

We are headed to our local lake and earning the Ultimate Belt Loop and holding a picnic for families.

Our members will be spending the day with their families, the next weekend we'll be going to one of the local rock wall facilities and climbing for the day, probably followed up with Dairy Queen.(This message has been edited by pack212scouter)

All good activities but what are you doing to Celebrate Freedom?

Same as Pack212Scouter's crowd...we too will be with family and friends doing just whatever.

 

So what does that have to do with celebrating freedom? By using our freedom to do something we want to do without being forced to do otherwise.

 

Now as for honoring and recognizing those who gave us that freedom.....each person and scout does his own thing, but we make an effort as a pack to show that horor during Veterans Day, Memorial Day and attending honor flight "welcome home" ceremonies.

Since July 4th is falling on a Sunday this year, we're meeting as a Pack at a local Church where several of our Scouts are members. Sort of a "Scout Sunday redux". We're going to post the colors, lead the pledge, and then sit together for service. All that can, I understand it's a busy Holiday.

My previous pack has decided that they'll do a fundraiser at the local 4th celebration (during our normal 120 degree heat) with the boy working 2 hour shifts (outside in the heat).

 

Note, I said previous back for a reason.

That's actually a great idea!

 

What would be the total time spent? Maybe an hour to an hour and a half? Still have all wekend and the rest of the day Sunday to do whatever.

Probably closer to an hour. We'll be wrapped up by noon and then the boys are free to do whatever with their families. A Scout is reverent. :-)

I meant...an hour and a half total: Getting their uniforms on, going to the church and the service too.

 

An entire 1 1/2 hours out of their day. Not bad at all!
