Oak Tree 15
There is no official national award for 50 miles for Cub Scouts. You can certainly make up troop awards, and I would also be fine with presenting a Cub Scout with a 50-miler patch if they completed a 5-day, 50-mile trip. But I don't think National would want to make up an award to encourage that - it would not be generally age-appropriate.
epalmer84 10
I believe this might be referring to the article in the October issue of Scouting: http://www.scoutingmagazine.org/issues/0710/a-trail.html Ed
ASM915 90
Ed is right. There is an article in the Oct. issue of SCOUTING. A pack started a hiking program where the Cub can earn a hiking staff with his Pack #, and name on the staff. The Pack has patches for different legnths hiked, 50,100,150,200 etc. The Pack goes hiking every month with different distances. The Dens can do additional hikes if they want. Eric P. ScoutNut 147
A Pack or Den may make up any number of their own, unofficial awards for their Cubs. However, Cubs Scouts are not eligible to earn awards from the Boy Scout program (50-Miler, Mile Swim, Snorkeling, etc).
