mbscoutmom 10 Posted August 10, 2006 Share Posted August 10, 2006 I wanted last year's Tiger den leader to recieve his knot, but I'm confused about the requirements. Under "performance", the first requirement is to "conduct a Tiger Cub roundup for your pack with at least five new Tiger Cub boy/adult teams recruited." He was recruited at last year's roundup. Is he supposed to recruit Tigers at this year's roundup in order to qualify for the knot? Link to post Share on other sites
gwd-scouter 11 Posted August 10, 2006 Share Posted August 10, 2006 Going out on a limb here and assuming that last year's Tiger Den Leader is now this year's Wolf Den Leader. Tiger year began last fall and ended this past spring. Wolf year begins this fall. In many Packs, the "year" is really just the school year with the exception of having Cub Resident Camp, Day Camp and maybe a Pack activity or two in the summer. In any case, most Packs graduate their Cubs to the next level at the end of the school year. So, having said that, your Tiger Den Leader signed up last fall and ended his term last Spring and did not serve a full year. The requirement does not say a "calendar year" or "twelve months," so one could interpret a year to mean the school year, or Pack year. Even if you count his service as a year without being a calendar year, I wouldn't count the night he signed up as a Tiger Den Leader as being a part of conducting a roundup. Why not have the former Tiger Leader help out with this year's roundup? His experience as a Tiger Leader could only help encourage the new first graders and their parents to sign up! Everyone wins - Leader completes the requirements for his knot, the folks doing the roundup have an extra person to help, and the new folks get a first hand account of the workings of Tiger Cubs and the Pack. Trlarue, if you completed the requirements you can still receive the award. If you did not complete the roundup requirement do so this year. Then complete the Progress Record for Tiger Cub Den Leader Award form and have it signed by the appropriate parties to receive your award. Link to post Share on other sites

ScoutNut 147 Posted October 21, 2006 Share Posted October 21, 2006 You can't get a training/performance award for something you have not done yet. The awards are given AFTER the time of tenure in the position. The Tiger den leader must serve as Tiger den leader for 1 year. During that 1 year he/she should, using the Tiger program of Shared Leadership, be contacting the host Tiger Team families to offer help & support. The things that are required for these leader awards are simply the things that, if you are running a good den program, you would be doing anyway! Link to post Share on other sites
