New information on some new patches...Anyone know?

Recommended Posts

I had read the Scouting Magazine the other day and came across an article about a Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award. It's supposed to be a pocket patch and you can earn it each year as a cub scout moves up in rank. It didn't have the requirements for earning it. Does anyone know these or where I could find them?

Also there was a 75th Aniversary patch that was mentioned but not any requirements for it either. Does anyon know about this one?

I was thinking that the Outdoors Award would be a great addition to the boys uniforms if they were interested in earning it. The anniversary patch would be a keep sake.

Thanks!

Tracy,

The 75th Anniversary Award does have requirements but they will be released later this year. The award runs from Jan 05 thru Dec 05. I also was interested in this, wanted toget a head start but all I could find out is the information listed above.

As for the Outdoor award I too would be interested to know if anyone else has heard about it.

Oh, that is so frustrating! I received info to add the 75th logo to everything, to promote it, and to plan for it for the time frame of Sept 04 through Dec 05. So I did, and I've been none too patiently waiting on info.

As for the outdoor award, on an e-mail list a post from Nat'l indicated that the requirements were to be released late in August. So hopefully any day now.

Tiger Cubs, Wolf and Bear Cub Scouts, and

Webelos Scouts have the opportunity to earn the

Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award. Boys may

earn the award in each of the program years as

long as the requirements are completed each

year. The first time the award is earned, the boy

will receive the pocket flap award, which is to

be worn on the right pocket flap of the uniform

shirt. Each successive time the award is earned, a

wolf track pin may be added to the flap. Leaders

should encourage boys to build on skills and

experiences from previous years when working

on the award for a successive year.

The new Outdoor Activity Award flap patch sounds great, but it seems there is a possible uniforming conflict.

The latest version of the official unform insignia guide and inspection sheet shows the Summertime Pack Award pin mounted on the right pocket flap, just above the button. Can this pin be worn in the same location over the OAA flap patch, or does the Cub forego wearing his pin on the uniform if he elects to earn and wear the OAA patch?
