What do you pay to attend pow wow?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to see what the fees for pow wow attendees are, and what do you get, beside program for your money.

As an example, our last pow wow: fee $30.00 (early registration, 2 month prior - $25.00) you recieved of book on either on CD or in print form, a patch, lunch, class handouts, their was also a juice/coffee bar on arrival with bagels and donuts,

The year before, you recieved above, plus a T-shirt and outside entertainment at the Blue and Gold.

Both years supplied excellent program, IMHO

What do you pay to attend a pow wow? What do you get for your money?

Thanks

Our council is asking $20. I think you get the book on CD. Just heard they have dropped the price to $10. Must not have many signed up, maybe because information is not on the website.

Neighboring council has theirs coming up in November. It is $15, you get a book and a patch. If you register 6 or more people at one time you pay only $12 per person. You attend 5 classes during the day.

Our Pow Wow is $25 until 2.5 weeks prior to the event. Then it goes up to $30. For that we receive a patch, Pow Wow Book, coffee, sweet rolls, and lunch. It is all day, from 8:30am until 3:15pm. We have a choice of 6 classes out of 26 offered plus a midway of various displays.

IMO it is a GREAT value. A wonderful, hands-on training experience where you can learn something new each year!

Whoops, forgot to mention that we end up with a paper shopping bag FULL of info over and above the Pow Wow Book. Also we get to bring home all of the crafts and projects we have made.

James -

Why are scouts charged and leaders free at your Pow Wow? In our Council this is Cub Scout training for leaders only. If there are any Scouts there, they are usually just a few Boy Scouts who are helping the class presenters or on the midway.

Attended Pow Wow on Saturday. Cost was $10.00 That included fried chicken & side dishes for lunch. Also was handed a computer CD full of information, what was covered in the classes and MORE. Plus getting to wear that cool looking uniform all day!

Our Pow Wow is $10, plus $5 if you sign up less than 3 weeks ahead. Lunch is not included, they serve lunch for $4.50 or you can brown bag it. They also throw in coffee and donuts in the morning, and chips and juice with lunch, even if you bring your own lunch.

I went for the first time last year, it is a lot of great info packed into one day.

It's funny, some months back people were comparing fees for Cub day camp, our council was among the highest and almost twice what some others pay, and yet for Pow Wow we are among the lowest. Go figure.

Oh, one more thing we get for our $10. Because it is combined with University of Scouting for Boy Scout leaders, and they use a "university" theme for the whole thing, we get to see all the middle-aged course directors dressed up in collegiate "cap and gown" on stage at the beginning and end of the day. Entertainment, for no extra charge.
