International Scout Rally & Uniform

Hello all. We just got back from the International Scout Rally in Hessel, MI (Upper Penninsula) and we had an awesome time. This was our troop's first year and they came away with some awesome prizes. The organizers announced there were 907 scouts from the US and Canada. From Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Canadian Scouts, Venture Crews...you name it, they were there. The theme this year was Superheros, and the costumes were great. Can't wait til next year...the theme will be Decades.

 

I hear we can now wear the Canadian flag below the US flag on our uniform shirts, but I cannot find that written anywhere in BSA guidelines. Has anyone heard of this before?(This message has been edited by reedcityscouts)

Sorry that is incorrect. You cannot wear the Canadian Flag, or the Quebec Flag for that matter, under the US flag.

 

What you may be eligible to wear the following: International Activity Patch, International Activity Jacket, International Activity Back Patch, International Activity Neckerchief, and International Activity Slide.

The you may have to order teh jacket and slide jacket directly through Interational Division in TX as I do not see them on Scoutstuff.org or they may be discontinued

Question: Why would you want to? Do they (Scouts Canada) wear the US flag?

We have attended the International Scout Rally since 2001, and it is an awesome experience. The Superhero theme was great fun. As for the Decades theme next year....I am still in think mode! So far, favorite themes have been Nursery Rhymes and TV Shows.

 

I have not heard of being able to wear the Canadian flag on our uniforms. I don't think I'd want to, since I am not a Canadian Scout.

IF you could wear a flag for every country that you interacted with scouts from, I'ld be in trouble having done the European Camp Staff Program and went to a WSJ. Also had some dealing with Canadians, and with Quebecois in particular.
