US Heritage Award

Recommended Posts

You "can" wear an Ozzie Osborne patch depicting a headless bat if you "want". But BSA tells us that the BSA uniform is for BSA insignia. The heritage website patch is a private venture not associated with BSA, so no, not for the BSA uniform.

It looks like some entrepeneurial individual with a box at the local UPS Store had some medals made up and is selling them to kids who can sing the Star Spangled Banner and do a few other requirements.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but no, the medals they sell don't go on the uniform.

They COULD wear the patch as a temp insignia, but the "more appropriate" place is the patch blanket or other display. Of course, some units give out/wear many non-BSA patches as temp insignia. Take a trip to a Nat Park (cap/hike/service project), receive the patch as a memory, etc.

As far as the company goes, we've ordered from them and received them with no problems. The first I heard of this award was from a local Homeschool group who was using the program - they also had no problems. This was 2009 timeframe so either their service is hit and miss or they've gotten their act together.
