  3. Hi Guys, I am a new Venturing Adviser of a Newly Re-minted Venturing Crew. I was just wondering if it is acceptable practice for the Crew to fund-raise for equipment congruent to it's program: decent four season tents, backpacking stoves and the such. Thanks for the help, Chip
  4. Hey everybody, I want to pick your brains on scenario going on in my crew. Our Area Venturing President, equivalent to an OA Section Chief, is a member of our crew and recently completed NAYLE this last summer. He'll be turning 18 in May and has expressed interest in the idea of attending Wood Badge. Having formerly staffed Wood Badge, I know 18 year-olds can attend Wood Badge, even if they are not registered as an adult leader in a pack, troop, or team. However, I know his parents are stand-offish to the idea of him attending Wood Badge so young. The course he would like to attend wou
  5. My son has gotten involved with a Venturing Crew and started attending the Council VOA (Venturing Officer Association) meetings. At the last meeting, one of the Advisors made a comment that they had read that a portion of FOS money collected by the council should be designated to an account to be used by the VOA. The person who saw this cannot remember where they saw this nor can they re-find it doing an internet search. Does anyone know of any BSA publication that states this?
  6. So it looks like our crew is down to One female adult participant, One make adult participant, One female youth, One male youth, Two adult males Two adult females (one more available, one less, neither wed to the males). Now there's a whole lot of glass half empty/full going on that I won't bore you with. Let's just say the above want to at least try venturing, so I'll give them the time to do just that. Typically this lot is interested in backpacking, at least all of them say they like the concept. For today's question: if one of each of the above comes on a trip, how would you
  7. If your crew has at least 5 youth and 2 adults who are free July 31-Aug 5, $400 each participant ($300 each adult), plus transport. Summit Bechtel Reserve may be the place to be: http://www.summitbsa.org/venturingfest/ Scuttlebutt has that the National Venturing Youth Cabinet is putting this together in coordination with SBR staff.
  8. Can anyone recommend a good site for the patch placement for a venturing shirt? especially on the sides of the shirt. I am seeing so many sites with the patches together and patches separate.
  9. What would it include with regards to program??? Looking to advise council on how to put together a successful week long program at summer camp exclusive to Venturing. Two one week sessions.
