Awards committee resources
Protoclete posted a topic in Council RelationsFor those who have organized district or council awards committees, did you use or discover any really effective tools for helping committee members evaluate and compare nominations? For example, did anyone use a 1-5 rating scale on different aspects of the nominations, or assign points, or create a matrix or written evaluation tool of any kind? Or just get together and hash it out verbally with each other? As I'm organizing our awards committees, I'm looking for good ideas to implement here - which will culminate in a live meeting, of course, but would love to hear some good ideas
Life @ 17.55 (or Star @ 17.05 or 1st Class @ 16.75)
qwazse posted a topic in Advancement ResourcesI did the math with a scout earning Life and he has 5 months until turning 18. It was a little discouraging because he said he wanted to earn Eagle, but he really wasn't paying attention to deadlines -- especially because he counted on summer camp to earn badges that would have been better earned with a counselor. So, I encouraged him to stay positive and still lean in to scouting. I told him to think about the badges he'd wished he'd earned and go for it. Along those lines, what awards might you suggest to a scout whose remaining tenure precludes rank advancement?
Advancement Ceremony for Multiple Ranks
slapper posted a topic in Cub ScoutsLooks like all of our Dens are going to be ready to receive their rank badges at the April pack meeting. Rather do a series of small ceremonies for the Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos 1s all in a row - I am trying to find a good idea for how to do one ceremony at the same time for all. I am picturing having everyone stand in a circle - with their parents behind them in another circle - or something like that. Anyone have an idea or something to share? Thanks,
