  1. To our Scouting community, In Scouting, we vow to help other people at all times. Now, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, our Scouting community must do its part to slow the spread of the virus, which will save lives and avoid overwhelming our local healthcare infrastructure. The safety of Scouts, volunteers, employees and our communities is our top priority. With safety in mind and based on guidance from national health officials, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is strongly advising that in-person meetings, activities, events and gatherings of 10 or more people be suspended
  2. Found this elsewhere. National is consolidating resources. That said, I’m not sure the US Scouting Service Project will be obsolete any time soon... https://troopresources.scouting.org/
  3. Has anyone seen this year's holiday message video from National?
  4. As we know, the National Executive Board has been in the news making decisions for us from palms to membership but what do we know about this board. Did some digging. When and why were they created? "The statute authorizing the federal charter (36 USC 309) to the BSA provides that "An executive board composed of citizens of the United States is the governing body of the corporation. The number, qualifications, and term of office of members of the board are as provided in the bylaws. A vacancy on the board shall be filled by a majority vote of the remaining members of the board."[The Execu
  5. Anyone take the survey? Some of the questions seemed very nonsensical to me. I can't recall them being this bad before. Are things really that bad at National, or is it another example of the un-involved running things?
  6. I know that National is VERY protective of the Scouting brands but recently when looking for some fonts there are companies selling Cub Scout font Scout font What happen to brand protection?
  7. I saw this last week but since April 1st was Friday I thought maybe it was a hoax. Apparently not. Bubble-ball similar games have been banned. My first thought is a dumbfounded wow. I witnessed Bubble-ball at Winter Camp. The Scouts had fun and they were running around. The cushion provided by the bubble was ~2 ft thick.
  8. If your crew has at least 5 youth and 2 adults who are free July 31-Aug 5, $400 each participant ($300 each adult), plus transport. Summit Bechtel Reserve may be the place to be: http://www.summitbsa.org/venturingfest/ Scuttlebutt has that the National Venturing Youth Cabinet is putting this together in coordination with SBR staff.
  9. A Scout is trustworthy able to sell himself to the highest bidder. Scouting Magazine, the official adult communication organ of BSA, posted this Berkshire Hathaway (See's Candy) sponsored blog post on their website. IMO, the National Council has an integrity problem. Units and chartered partners have to honor fundraising rules (no endoresements), the National Council SELLS them.
