A wise old scoutmaster used to love saying, "Team work makes the dream work." I have no idea whether he made up that quote or borrowed it, but the truth behind it is apparent in myriad situations (including fundraising). If you've got an idea for a fundraising activity, but you think that your unit might be too small to support it, a good solution is to simply team up with another similarly sized unit and work together, then split the proceeds. As I was reading some news articles about scouting, I came across this story about 2 BSA troops that were working together to host a S

Hi Guys, I am a new Venturing Adviser of a Newly Re-minted Venturing Crew. I was just wondering if it is acceptable practice for the Crew to fund-raise for equipment congruent to it's program: decent four season tents, backpacking stoves and the such. Thanks for the help, Chip

Is it acceptable to sell camp cards on social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat. I was also wondering if this would differ on the way it was presented, including a video, or if its the parent or scout themselves posting. Thanks for the help, Samuel

I've already donated over 300 (leatherworking) stamps to the 4 sets of Day Camp (for our Council in Las Vegas, NV) tools and have another 300 that will be going to our Summer camp and Girl Scout set that I am putting together. I am documenting my progress in putting the leather tool sets together and will be able to provide information about what works and what doesn't in order to help other councils do the same. Of note to all the Scouters out there willing to donate leather tools and stamps. I especially need the following: All 2d/3d stamps & sets, even if incompl

The Venturing Crew I work with needs to fundraise as it's account is low in funds. At last weeks meeting they were discussing fundraising ideas but most required startup funds that the crew just doesn't have. The youth really like to sell Gertrude Hawk chocolate bars but they don't have enough funds to cover what is needed to do this. The only low cost idea they came up with is a Can and Bottle Drive. They have enough funds to get flyers to go door to door to pass out but are looking to do something else. Anyone have any other little or no start up cost fundraising ideas I can suggest to t

I have read the topics about Fundraising for the Good of the Whole Troop and the BSA policy about this At out COH last night I was talking with our Treasurer. He read the article in Scouting magazine about ISA’s and is concerned about how we conduct fundraising. The troop constantly has multiple fundraisers going, mostly of the “go sell this†type. Our Treasurer wants to bring this up at the next committee meeting and knows there is going to be some upset parents. So, how do you move away from ISA’s? We have scouts with accounts that have a balance that run anywhere fro
