  1. This video was filmed a year ago, John Shell's Eagle Project was to deploy 50 of the 2’x2’x3’ mini reefs across coastal Alabama. "Shell deployed the first reefs for the Eagle Reef project under the piers at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab." "After six months, each reef is loaded with filter feeders (oysters, barnacles, etc.), and it will filter and clean 10,000,000 gallons of water per year and attracts fish to your wharf. It will also provide habitat to grow 500 fish and crabs annually. Each reef comes preassembled and is tied between four pilings under a dock or wharf. It

  3. ...Adrian’s kits are full of materials that are described as anxiety and autism comfort items, and as a part of his eagle badge requirements, Adrian supplied the kit to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department to use as a tool when they are responding to calls that involve autistic people or people in extreme anxiety. The kit contains headphones, sensory balls, fidget spinners, pipe cleaners, stretchy men and flavored tongue depressors, which are Adrian’s favorite. These kits are now carried by 42 medic units in Fairfax County, and when they are working with an individual with autism
  4. Murrysville ,PA: Eagle scout candidate built a scent wall for the Western Pennsylvania Search and Rescue Development Center in Penn Hills. “It’s a wall that has tubes that alternate in height, so the dogs have to go up and down to search,” said Rhea, a freshman at Franklin Regional Senior High School. “Some of the scents are a distraction, and the dogs are meant to find the scent their handler gave them.” “It’s a wall that has tubes that alternate in height, so the dogs have to go up and down to search,” said Rhea, a freshman at Franklin Regional Senior High School. “Some of the scen
  5. So, I'm the parent of an Eagle Scout-he has worked incredibly hard on a project, with little to no guidance and therefore, has had to do a lot of problem solving on his own. He was doing log cabin chinking on a primitive structure for an Indian Village. The beneficiary had NO oversight on the day of and we waited and waited for them to come out and check the work. Finally, packed up all supplies--which was EXTENSIVE. A day later beneficiary is not satisfied with the work. He completed the exterior of the cabin chinking, but although they did not say, they want him to do the inside work as

And hopefully helping their friend accomplish his dream of becoming an Eagle Scout. Sean Richardson, 16, was a Lanier County High School sophomore, a trumpet player in the school band, a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 415 at Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Valdosta
  7. Background of myself. I do not have a lot of experience at the troop level but I am around a lot of troops. I have been to 3 Eagle Projects and they have left me scratching my head, so please correct me and or tell me the proper way. I see all the adults doing the project! is that the correct way?
  8. I can't find criteria in the BSA Guide To Advancement for accepting good completion criteria in the scout's Eagle proposal. What if a scout defines a project that is part of a sequence of a larger project. What if the scout does parts A & B (70%), but the beneficiary needs to get part C (30%) completed to make it useful? Or there is a much much larger project (parts A-Z) and the scout does part K. Part K is useful, but only in context of completing parts A-Z. Does a scout's Eagle project have to stand by itself? Is it acceptable for the scout and beneficiary to negotiate a h
  9. Maybe I am an old grey-beard but this bothers me. I have noticed more "outside" groups advertising or even directly approaching troops with "Eagle projects". Sure this has happened in the past but from "inside" groups - parents, the CO, the scout's school or church...and I frowned on that too. IMO, the scout from his experience helping others should see the need for his Eagle project, not be provided with it. Character-building. Now these "outside" groups are public organizations that a scout could observe a need and develop his own Eagle project if he ever had prior contact, but these
