OK...no good on the steel wool idea! As a follow-up question...what exactly does the fiberglass do? Wouldn't the stove work without it?...after all, the alcohol's gonna burn anyway, right? Thanks for the assistance! mark

Hi all, I'm making one of those small stoves out of cat-food cans; i.e. Roy "Traildad" Robinson's Cat Stove. The instructions call for using a bit of fiberglass insulation in the burner as a mantle. Well, believe it or not, I can't find any fiberglass insulation. I live in Qatar & apparently they don't use fiberglass over here. Anyone have suggestions for an alternate material? Would steel-wool work? Thanks, Mark

It's clear that the Pack is not your CM's highest priority and therefore, IMHO, he has no business being the CM. His lack of enthusiasm will infect the rest of the program, which is what it sounds like you're experiencing. You need someone who is gung-ho about the program as your CM. If you can achieve this, he / she will drive (hound? badger? threaten?) the DL's to get their training, make sure they're running good Den programs, and (if necessary) spur the Committee into doing their jobs, too. Hi all, I am the Cubmaster for Cub Scouts Pack 3947 in Doha, Qatar. I'm trying to locate a contact with the Qatar national scouting organization, to arrange some joint activities. Thus far, my phone messages to Mr. Mahmoud Abdullah (Commissioner of the Qatar Scouts Assn) have gone unanswered, and I have no email address for him.
