  1. Agreed, why take the chance? Putting them in a separate campsite limits supervision (most small troops only bring 2 adults around me). All the camp needs is to be sued and shut down since someone died that needs it, but the camps electricity is out. If anything, have them sign a waiver.
  2. 100% agree with you. That’s why I gave you a thumbs up. But, couldn’t it also be considered a “medication and/or disability” and the camp would be required to provide accommodations? Isn’t there a law about that? Not sure, just asking.
  3. In all honesty, if the adult can’t provide it for himself or pay for it himself to “rent” something, then he shouldn’t be using the camps limited funding for it which will take away from others and it’s not selfish, it’s just don’t go if you know the camp can’t accomdate.
  4. Neither am I, wish there was a option to get the full site. There’s too much scrolling involved with the new mobile interface. Also, every thing is enlarged now so you have to have your phone (if on phone) like a foot away so you can see it. I hope there is / going to be a full site option.
  5. It’s not right if you don’t give back after all the previous volunteers have given you. I understand once you get eagle you usually attend college, but you can still volunteer after you graduate. There is already someone in my troop who is close to eagle (needs only signatures to finalize post project and EBOR), but hasn’t showen up to a single meeting or camping trip (he lives across the street from the charter, no joke) and his younger brother (first class?) still comes weekly. The committee is giving him a extremely tough time for zoning out of the troop, also remember that he isn’t
  6. I just looked up the community strips (as I wasn’t a Boy Scout when they were around) and I wish they didn’t get rid of them, it’s nice to know where everyone’s from instead of asking every single person “where are you fromâ€, which can get tiring at a camporee with 5000+ people.
  7. I have been debating that myself, I have yet to see another scouter (I’m Life, soon to be eagle), wearing a unique patch beside the Jamboree ones. I’ve had a FOS patch since 2014 and don’t know if I would want to stand out.
  8. That is a valid point and makes me wonder. I wish they would provide that info to us as it is a nice thing to add to scouting history. After reading up about it for a few minutes, most of records were lost and there’s still no offical proof for the first troop (only that it was in Europe)
  9. I won’t lie, I was the same way as a Cub Scout, I could never handle a over night camping trip. But, soon as I became a Boy Scout I was able to be alone, all that “anxiety†(I guess?) went away. It went away for me as I aged.
  10. Friend is going for his EBOR next week or so and apparently the district eagle coordinator said in his generic email to bring all blue cards. He doesn’t have all his and I know I don’t either.
  11. Update: Turns out after all I will not be able to attend the event due to my First Responder class can be missed, but would have to do it during the first two periods which I can not miss since I will be missing the next day due to being a student ambassador (prior commitment), and can't miss two days of the same classes in a row. Thanks all for your opinions
  12. I was the same, but in middle school. I’d rather not be bullied again (I always got picked on in middle school for being a Boy Scout). Only my close friends know I’m a Boy Scout, and I would “advertise†I’m a Boy Scout but the memories of being picked on are not always great. I’m only a sophomore, I have 3 years (including this year) left with my grade, and they will pick anyone who does it. I’m proud to be a Boy Scout, I wouldn’t be able to volunteer as much if I wasn’t, I enjoy helping others (reason why I’m going into medical field). I wouldn’t be able to camp as mu
  13. I actually wouldn't mind being a male nurse, nobody even cares that I am studying to be one out of high school. Never was picked on once, it's a normal thing around me. Boy Scouts again, just has a bad reputation around me.
  14. I'm studying to be a Occupational Therapist, but I graduate from high school as a nurse.
  15. I’m in nursing, was just explaining why there is a restaurant in my school haha.
  16. Oh I know! I’m not saying you’re pressing me into anything. It’s encouraging if anything.
  17. Thanks all , most responses I’ve gotten this quick ever. Just found out from a friend I have EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) certification training apart of my program that day and unaware if the instructor will let us out.
  18. I have been friends with the one who’s not coming at all for over 8 years even though we are in other troops and I know he won’t change his mind. The other scouts won’t do it, so only one not including me. I’m in nursing in high school and I get certified as a nursing assistant, I talk to veterans & the elderly at centers, nursing homes, and more when I have clinicals. I’m not afraid to communicate, it’s just I have friends that would joke about it for 3 years.
  19. I want to do it, but around me scouts are considered “geeky†“no friendsâ€, there’s around 10 Scouts in my school and only 3-4 (including me) actually have friends & socialize. Boy Scouts have a bad reputation unfortunately when it comes to teens
  20. I know two other scouts who are already going to not come.
  21. Nope. I go to a Vocational high school and there is a law & Public safety that is equipped to do it, but he didn’t ask them.
  22. Was approached by a teacher today (veteran) who hosts events at our school for veterans, and we have one coming up where Gold Star Moms (child died while serving) and veterans come to our school and get to talk to students & have a luncheon (my votech has a restaurant for culinary art students) and he asked me and a few other scouts in the class if we could do a flag ceremony. He wants FULL class A, and I honesty don’t feel comfortable in front of all my friends (they joke all the time about me being a scout), and it’s sad that BSA has a bad rep like that. I know I should be r
  23. Really? I feel like the quality goes down as well, it more likely will fade eventually.
  24. How much did you charge? Do you have any pictures? I’m really interested in bringing this up in my troop
  25. I don’t get a notification though. The @ just worked on Oct. 27, so that’s odd. I think they did maintenance a few days ago.
